BSOD crashes, lock ups
 

Need a lil help from y'all. My computer recently started receiving some blue screens of death and random screen freezing with speakers emitting razor sharp pitches of death. I recently got a virus and when I went back to a previous stored point on my computer, it went back to before Memory Express fixed it.

When I first built my computer, problems like this occurred and I sent it into Memory Express, they fixed it by changing the settings on my BIOS or motherboard back to default. Could it possibly have been the system restore that caused my computer to revert back to its toxic, self-abusive ways? Or maybe the pesky virus lingering around, causing software failures. How do I do that?

Your OS is tainted. At this point, I would just back up all your data, and format/reinstall Windows.

restart your computer, when you see the black screen it will tell you what to click to enter bios... might be the F8 or delete, depends on your manufacturer of your motherboard

I know how to boot in safemode, and I have already reformatted and reinstalled my OS. I just don't know where to go once in safemode, to turn BIOS settings to default. I have already looked.

spam the following keys right after restarting or starting up your comp: f2, f8, tab, del. that should cover your basis as each manufacturer has a slightly different setup.

a screen should pop up where you can change your mobo settings, and somewhere in there, should be a set to default settings option. setting to bios default is not within windows.

I don't know if you fixed your computer by now. But have you checked your event logs? Do you know how to run an analysis on your system dump file?

I'm having the same problem. Been occurring randomly for the past 3-4 weeks or so. Reinstalled/reformatted windows 7 with a clean install and I still get the BSOD randomly. BSOD pops up, restart computer and it works fine then random BSOD pops up again.

Other info: Have had this build since June and it has been working flawlessly since up until 3 weeks or so.
The computer will boot and work perfectly fine and then randomly BSOD.

Also when windows loads up after BSOD the usual, windows experienced an error box, check for solution. These are the details in the box

I had the same fkn thing. It was a faulty fkn memory stick. If I were you I'd start by taking them all out and testing one by one

This is what I would do myself..

backup data
open case and reset bios via jumpers
enter bios and load up default optimal settings
format HDD
install windows
restore backup

but if your not familar with doing this, ask a friend who is or take it into a shop..

That's a hardware error code.

I'd start with a RAM diagnostic first.

Run Memtest86, and put in each stick of ram in, one by one, and run the software to see which one is faulty.

These errors could be due to a variety of things:
- Dying Hardware
- Hardware conflicts
- Bad Drivers
Best bet is to run diagnostics, if you can somehow get into safemode. Or figure what component may have been used right when you get BSODs, it should point you in a certain direction.

I cleared the CMOS by pulling the battery.
I couldn't find the jumpers on the mobo, so i just pulled the battery.

Ran windows memory diagnostic tool and it was clean.
Will run Memtest86

I've been looking into it and some sites say antivirus products like Norton can cause issues. (never ran Norton before but after reinstalling windows ran Norton Internet)Security. Other sites say google chrome can have an impact as well on the drivers or something.

Now I'm going to update to latest BIOS version, uninstall norton, and run memtest86.

I ran the program you recommended and it too is saying it was caused by driver: ntoskrnl.exe

Will run memtest86 for 8 passes tomorrow to rule out any RAM/memory problems.

Anyone know how i can update the intel driver?
I uninstalled it for the time being.

Also uninstalled Norton Internet Security, just running MSE and spybot search and destroy...both come back clean from viruses, etc.

bad memory stick was the reason for my last BSOD

Run memtest, then try doing chkdisk too to check out your hard drive.

Ran memtest for 9 hours today, did 8 passes and no errors showed up.
Also ran chkdisk on all drives and no errors.
Ran Samsungs own hard drive software(Samsung Magician) to check the SSD(Samsung 840 Pro) for corruption and it is healthy.

It hasn't crashed since I uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
Been running Prime95 for the last hour or so and all seems to be good so far.

i got the ntoskrnl.exe file error a lot on one of my server and the only option was to format my windows drive. pain in the ass but it is now running fine.

hopefully your issue is only with the IRST driver.

Yea hopefully. I already formatted my harddrive/reinstalled a clean windows 7.
So far it has been running fine for the past 6 hours or so.
