Not only will you NEVER get to the limits of a street tire on public roads, it is incredibly asinine to try and do so.

true, but I was giving the OP a benefit of a doubt that he had some driving skills by hooning on the streets. I totally agree, you would never be able to learn what you can at the track/autocross compared to the street.

2 things for OP to keep in mind. If this is your first autoX and if you have no other performance driving experience, bring the RSA's as you don't want to ruin your new set of tires.
You are in a fwd car, so you'll be hard on the outside edges of the tires.

Secondly, they will ask you to tone down your driving if you are making too much tire squeal.

exactly, that's what happened when I did my first autoX and it was with hankook ventus v4es.

In my opinion, don't change your tires yet. Come out, have fun, drive, get instruction, jump in instructors cars and just enjoy.

Ask lots of questions too!! It looks like I wont be able to make this event but I know there are tons of people around who can help you with anything you need!

I've had Hankook v12s on a Mazda Miata and a Chevy Corvette. On the Miata I liked these tires, they gave up grip in a very predictable manner allowing me to drift my ass through pretty much every turn. J turns down Sunset Blvd are fun.

When I got the Corvette it had some horrible firestone tires. I replaced those with some Hankook V12s. What was fun in the Miata was annoying in the Vette. After some power upgrades these tires didn't hook at all.

I now run Nitto Invos. They're great. It's what I'd recommend doing. I have to work at it to make it kick out, unlike the hankooks ;P The Nittos seem to have very predictable behavior when you break loose, but they usually don't squeal like other tires, which can be a little weird.
