sweet, maybe I can start going early afternoons on weekdays so its not as busy. sounds like the snow will be decent.

maxxxboost 01-11-2014 12:18 AM

Snow was good today at cypress :)

DON'T go out of bounds! I saw a cypress employee wait at the bottom of Horizon/Rainbow for riders who deliberately go out of bounds. Outcome, he took their passes away.

Xu.Vi 01-11-2014 01:06 AM

Better be decent! Going to be my first time this season.

rexsomnii 01-11-2014 01:15 AM

ss604, youre going cypress tmrw ?

Xu.Vi 01-11-2014 02:40 AM

Yep, will be up tomorrow from 10AM till whenever my group gets tired. I'll be riding with a black bolle helmet, white I/OX framed goggles and "stock" lenses (LOL), white Helly Hanson rain jacket, green pants, and......black snowboard set with a razer sticker on one end. If you see me come say hi (i'm a newbie though) :D.

rexsomnii 01-11-2014 03:27 AM

I'll see you on Collins then! I'll be in all black. Wearing a big puffy burton jacket with white framed smith goggles. I'll try to scope you out.

All good! Let's get a Cypress meet going sometime this month.

PeP 01-11-2014 03:56 PM

How are the roads going up to Cypress? I'm sure they are plowed somewhat, but how bad does it get right at the main parking lot?

rslater 01-11-2014 06:03 PM

Whistler was epic today! Long wait to get up though...50 minutes at creekside and about an hour and whistler/blackcomb.

Definitely! Most fun I've probably had was the time we all went and had like 4 GoPros between maybe 6 people, haha.

At this time of year, factoring the amount of snow we have been getting, the roads to cypress should be all clear as they usually are. As for the parking lot, I'm going to guess it is either clear or just a light dusting.

Sweet, going up there tmr 630am leaving vancouver. Hoping weather is good, how was it today if I may ask (rain/cloud coverage/visibility)? I generally stay above the gondolas during the day until I'm done boarding. We'd ride up the blackbomb gondola and never go below 2nd base(i think thats what its called) until we are on our final run to the village to end the day. I find the village and creekside are the longest waits, although I never ever go down to creekside.

Xu.Vi 01-11-2014 07:19 PM

When I first got* to Cypress the ground was clear, then after a few hours...

anyone know where you can get a cheap board binding boot combo? my friend is looking into getting his own gear but doesnt want to break bank. he only works part time.

westopher 01-11-2014 09:18 PM

Craigslist. Always cheap, good gear available.

Craigslist? Sportchek? Literally anywhere that sells snowboard equipment?

EDIT: Westopher got there first...

RE-EDIT: Oh and westopher alpine on blackcomb was closed all day long, highest open chair was jersey cream, 7th was closed as well.

Park's are a mess and probable will be for a couple days as the last dump of snow screwed with everything.

Snow was great today, but it was easily one of the busiest days for lifts and lineups I have ever seen at whistler, and that is saying a lot because I am there really regularly.

Got there at about 9:15am and the line for the blackcomb gondola went back through the village and wrapped around showcase. It was nuts.

westopher 01-11-2014 09:28 PM

It sounds like the winds in the alpine are going nuts, i doubt they will be open tomorrow as well. Hoping the winds hold up and they cant open til wednesday or thursday. Going to hit up seymour tomorrow finally after work, then hopefully before work monday, then whistler tuesday, baker wednesday, seymour thursday, friday. Gonna fucking push it hard to make up for lost time.

TOS'd 01-11-2014 09:32 PM

^ :(

I hope 7th or anything above jersey is open tmr.

EDIT: meme405, was it raining in the village? raining/clear/snowing around jersey?

westopher 01-11-2014 09:35 PM

Really depends on the winds. I know for sure they are gonna want to open it for weekend crowds. They will be doing everything they can to get it open for sure, but if its gusting 80-100 like forecasted, it wont be safe to get patrollers bombing up there. Even with all the bomb trams and such its gonna be sketch as fuck.

TOS'd 01-11-2014 09:41 PM

I've been stuck on the 7th heaven lift one time a couple of years ago. We were mid way up the lift and then there was a complete white out. They stopped the lift for around 10 minutes but it seemed like a lifetime(long time), lol. I couldn't even see my own hands in front of my face, everything was white. I could hear the voices of my friends next to me but couldnt see them. Felt like I was dying and going to heaven or something. They finally got us off and closed the lift once the last guys were off it. Pretty interesting experience to say the least.

EDIT: oh yea and on our way down, visibility was shit. could barely see 3 feet in front of you. I remember going down the green run at the first part of 7th heaven and i thought i had stopped but i was actually slowly sliding forward. ended up dropping a foot off of the main path into pow, face planted and all, lol

Coren 01-11-2014 10:28 PM

Friend showed me a pic of whistler today (I don't think this is his picture)

heisenberg 01-11-2014 10:42 PM

the lines werent that bad when i went up :$ the busiest line was probably like 5 minutes long and thats because a bunch of ski schools were going home
