The fact is, april runs on the seasons leftovers, January doesn't have anything in the long term forecast, and that leaves us with february/march and we don't even have a fucking base yet. If it dumps a ton in february that can leave us with the last week or 2 of feb and any snow we get in March, which is historically a great month. So basically best case scenario we get 1-1.5 months of some quality pow days. Whistler might not even be able to run the glacier this year over the summer?

Pretty much bang on.

Looking at the long term January is a write off. April will be worthless this year as well because even if it does dump 5+ft in feb and march we still won't have a nice base for it to settle onto. So at this point nothing will correct the situation for good spring boarding.

Best case scenario is that we get a few decent dumps in february and it stays somewhat colder than average in march and they can winch out all the runs and some good groomer days/park days can be had.

If it we don't see a turnaround within the first couple weeks of february, this season is for sure over. There will be no way to recover from the situation in the latter half of february or march without some sort of record setting weather phenomenon.

Damn... Wtf. Didn't even know a season can just be wrote off like this...

Only my 2nd season (if you count this year) and I went about 10 times last year.

Really sucks... I'm like at the level where I'm ready to push it and try out some tricks.

well that's a bummer... I'll probably have to rethink about purchasing a season pass again next year.

GabAlmighty 01-21-2014 01:34 PM

But but.. I'm getting my bindings setup on my pow skis next week...

ShadowBun 01-21-2014 01:54 PM

Man. Bummer...

How are the interior mountains? Is it just the locals that have a lack of snow?

westopher 01-21-2014 02:51 PM

Interior was doing fairly well according to my friends in revy, although they have been without snow for a couple weeks now as well. My friends who live in rossland say they have had one good pow day at Red mountain this year. Big white was doing great, but also hit a slump now.

my gold medal card is also waiting pickup.

Sun Peaks is always good. Well more so than ns mountains lol. I should've went back for Christmas so I could've at least ridden there

fishCak3s 01-22-2014 10:13 AM

Sunpeaks had less snow than previous years when I was there earlier in mid Dec. But like everyone said, it's still 100000000x better than local mountains.

Was up on cypress last Thursday after work, the parking lot felt colder than the slopes; probably due to the inversion?

Was thinking of going up there again tomorrow night before my vacation to Asia, looks like I won't be getting any more riding before I leave or after I come back.

Volvo-brickster 01-22-2014 05:06 PM

Heading to big white tomorrow. Hope its not a sheet of ice. Probably just spend the day in the park if its sunny. I just know its gonna suck, its just a matter of how bad. At least it will be better than here and be a trip out of Van.

It was snowing and today was much better. It needs some more snow to settle to cover up the layer of ice (literally hard enough that if you shot at it with a 9mm it would bounce back at you) but there was probably 5-7cm of fresh today to soften the blow. I fell pretty hard on one of the big jumps yesterday after they opened up and I'm really feeling it today.

celica-g5 01-30-2014 12:16 AM

Alright guys! 2 new playlists uploaded to my Youtube channel. Happy shredding!

Volvo-brickster 01-30-2014 01:51 PM
