But it was also quite icy, so I'm not sure if it was because of my spray or because it was just dryer than usual.
I'll experiment some more this season. | Ewwww.
I'm not sure what boots you have, but I would HATE snowboarding with wet boots.
I am on my 3rd pair of Salomon boots, love them and my boots have stayed bone dry.
For boots, spend the money, spend lots and lots on your boots and you'll love boarding. Good boots are amazing.
And don't buy them too loose, they will pack out over time, and your feet kinda shrink throughout from the compression of the laces.

I'm not sure how the water is getting in though. Cause there's no way it's getting in from the top as I have my gaiter sealing the boot.
Maybe the water's seeping through my boots cause the material isn't waterproof enough.... or is it just my sweat??? lol...
(That's even more gross now that I think about it)

Wow this thread started early! Summer didn't even technically end when this started.
And yes, the thread titles were something I've conjured up a while ago. oh well. the flame has been passed onto some other radtacular dude.
No new gear for me this year. Focusing too much on my career and spending a heap on tools instead.
however i might hit up a few of my friends that still work in the industry for some knick knacks. you know the basics that we could all use more of.
PS, i'm heading to baker tomorrow in the morning to do some preseason hiking and jumping with a few homeys. Will take some photos of the conditions, provided they're decent.

Needing a new jacket this year and maybe some pants.
Picked up a new SkateBanana right before my last day this past winter along with some union force bindings, super stoked to ride this setup more this year. I was hesitant moving from a camber board to a reverse camber as I did not like the last reverse camber board I had. But the skatebanana is flawless, I was launching myself off the 40' booters at blackcomb no problem.
EDIT: still contemplating the student pass for whistler, but I don't want to be tied down to a mountain especially one thats 2 hours away. but for $500 i might have to just suck it up, and pay whenever I want to go to grouse or cypress.

I miss riding that every sunny non-pow day for 2 years. Its so scary stepping in there if you only ride it a couple times a season though. Whistler park is the place to be for old farts like me now if there hasn't been a dump. I picked up a seymour pass this year, and its a great place to ride for us ex-park rats. Grouse's park is shit, and cypress park doesn't exist. I would save your money you'd spend on a whistler student pass and go ride 10 days at baker for that price. It will change the way you see the mountain. If I'm riding city shit I likely wont leave the park, but if there is real terrain, searching for snow is a lot more interesting.

Grouse's park has been better in recent years, the jump line is the best on the north shore for 40'+ jumps.
Cypress had a good setup last year, after all the season ticket holders complained heavily over their shitty park setup over the couple seasons before that (this is why they moved it from slow tiny chair). I am hoping they can continue the improvements this year.
I honestly have a distaste for seymour, but its fine as a mountain.
I used to work at cypress for about 5 years, and during that time period I visited like every moutain in BC and washington, even went out east and rode in utah (brighton was awesome). Baker was really good, but if you know whistler as well as I do, there really is nothing like it.

I am with you on the "old fart" status.
I'll charge and hit anything, but when it comes to 40+ foot launches. i'll gladly film the others instead of taking the risk of not working for days on end.
I've had my lime light days, competition days, and video part days, but for now i'll gladly help someone else get to the skill set they want to be and properly guide them along the way

I used a K2 parkstar for a bit, not a terrible board, but certainly not something I want to be taking off the big hits. Perfectly fine board for mid winter jibbing sessions.
Had a 162 Burton Custom X with EST bindings, terrible system and I am overall not a fan of burton gear. I bought this board for powder days, so I bought it a good deal taller than my other boards, but unfortunately the EST system is such a load of non-sense that riding this board even down basic groomers was a chore.
The last board I had for an extended period of time was a bataleon goliath. This was also a very good board for me, but unfortunately did not hold up very well, partially due to abuse, partially because I believe the board is pretty fragile. Edge started to tear up, and core shots are way to easy.
Like I said I love my skatebanana, it is the perfect all round board for me, and since I just pick up the same board and ride it day-in day-out regardless of conditions it is exactly what I need.

We should meet up some day at Baker or whistler man, I bet we could get some good laps in. Charging off natural stuff and using the whole mountain is so satisfying and its like learning snowboarding all over again with the progression that comes with it. It feels like there is such a vast array of things to learn behind it, and endless creativity compared to park riding.

What's Baker like?
Grouse and Cyprus are usually pretty bleh with subpar weather conditions.
It's like visibility or icy, pick one.
Side note: Anybody still looking for a board?
Got a practically brand new Salomon Prospect 150 I'm willing to part with.
I probably used it for 2 days and went back to my bigger board.
