BTW, thanks to whoever suggested me the IO/X goggles! Got em for a good deal using EVO's price match and most importantly, fits great!

Got back from whistler today, logged my 2nd and 3rd days this season.
They need more snow (obviously as you can never have too much snow.. ), but coverage in the open area's isnt bad. There is some rocks and lots of little twigs sticking up, but all avoidable.
The main problem is there is so little terrain open. yesterday they did manage to get garbo going and you can ski down to the village, but no harmony and no blackcomb means a lot of the terrain I usually ride is closed.
Still I can't complain at all as these two weeks have been complete bonus's in terms of riding time. Should start snowing again middle of next week, and that will make a big difference. Quote:

Been meaning to finally upgrade my super old yet trusty bindings. They are generic Ride S Series ones from sportmart that I bought for $50. 6 years ago.
I hardly ever do park. Riding a Rossignol Taipan 158.
Any particular suggestions? I'm guessing any bindings I can point a finger at on a wall should be an upgrade.
Also, any online sites that are good for prices? Gonna want to maybe hunt something for black friday. Time and shipping is no issue, don't plan on boarding in next few weeks yet.

It's sides are like curved up so they don't catch the snow. Less prone to falling over. I got myself an old Millennium Three camber. I like it more than the rockers I rode. Feel like I have more control and flexibility.

Its definitely not just for beginners, unless I've gotten a LOT worse over the past few years.

It changes the way you ride. I've said before the hybrid camber is the best of both worlds. The Rome mtn pop camber is my favourite. Reverse between the feet, regular outside. When the board is on hard pack the board is loaded and you still get the same pop with the nose and tail camber as well as the stability. When riding pow, the way the board sits in the snow allows you to unload the pressure on the nose while still keeping your weight mostly centred tip to tail. It means easier float in pow, easier to stomp big landings in pow as if you were hitting things like a park jump, less pressure on your back leg so less thigh burners, and no shitty massive set back stance so stomping switch/riding switch in pow is easier. Its looser, and has better flow in deep stuff and only sacrifices a tiny bit of stability on hardpack. I will NEVER go back. I don't hit as big of park jumps as I used to, but thats nothing to do with the way I ride the board, its purely old man fear/rationalizing.

Moved the binding from my old board to the new board, put my boots on and started hopping on the small area rug since it's the only carpet I have at my place. Gf rolled her eyes at me |

I just started last season and kept falling on my face with my friend's flat board. I bought a camrocker board, and started carving 2 sessions later.
The rocker definitely helps learning how to carve for beginners, but for experienced riders, I would think they use rocker for tricks.

a) you get a good feel for it and
b) ride it in pow
My pow days are an hour longer since I don't get the back leg burn anymore.

Feel like I have more control and flexibility. | It's true. Rocker boards are now targeted to allow beginners to feel confidence in their turns and to provide them the ability to link turns with more ease than previous types of snowboards in the past.
BUT, don't discount rocker style/reverse camber boards completely, they are really fun snowboards.
Because some of them are curved from the waste up, they already are placed in the natural arc that you'd find a snowboard flexed to while on edge. Making them easy to turn.
Yes they are loose and generally don't track straight, but they are just a hoot to mess around with.
The two boards i go to are a soft rocker board, and a medium/stiff hybrid camber board, as i've opted out of getting new decks this season. The rocker board i have gets far more use out of a season than the hybrid board, but that's just me.
I do enjoy the hybrid, but only when the snow conditions are harder and that's due to the tuning that my hybrid board has been given. [I took an angle grinder to the edges of my rocker board for butters, and jibbing]
Looking forward to more snow!
