Couple years ago, a friend from New York I'd only ever known from online came up to Vancouver for work and wanted to tour the mountains. She loved the trip to Britannia, Whistler, and Callaghan Lake.
Last week she was up again for work, and again took a couple extra days to visit. We did some exploring up Garnet Creek FSR and ended up at Clear Creek, first time I'd ever been there.

So I rode the gixxer this afternoon before work, decided to just putter around Richmond. Ended up going to triangle beach.
So.. Aware me on triangle beach. There seems to be a few big puddles and a couple thin tracks in the grass/sand. Are you allowed to ATV or dirt bike there? Is there much in the way of patrol out there?. All I saw was a Bc hydro vehicle checking power lines, and a creepishly rapey camper van

People quad, dirt bike, 4x4 there all the time. No one comes to hassle you unless a fire is raging out of control. Groups of peeps usually head out on Friday and Saturday night for fires, drinking, 4x4'ing, etc. During the day it can be more family orientated. ie: dad and kids biking,4x4ing, etc. I've been going there since the early 90's and never been hassled at all. I'm surprised Triangle is somewhat new to you considering your born and raised. I'd consider it a right of passage for all Richmondites. |

I've never really wheel'd so I've never gone there for that. About 5 years ago I took my turbo e21 over there I used to own and blew out the rear shock mount. Since then I never ever went back.

It's definitely a destination for shenanigans more than anything. Drinking and fires are usually the highlight. As for wheeling, there isn't that much there other than a few paths. The sandy woopty woos by the fence are fun though. It serves as a testing ground more than anything. Back before the shipyard full of containers was there it was WAY better. Much more space to have fun. There is a fair sized sandy area to your left as you drive down the paved road before you hit gravel. That area is pretty good. Most of the dirt bikes hit up that area. Decent wheeling there too but some spots are narrow and clearly made for bikes only.

Went out this afternoon doing a little scouting of the water and fish situation up at Trout, Deer and Hicks Lakes. Beautiful afternoon for a little drive in the woods anyways. Pictures taken with my iPhone 4 aka potato (left hilltop in photo 2)

ive always wanted to check out buntzen lake, so i went today..
is this normal for mid april on a sunday??? not gonna bother ever again Quote: NOTE: Buntzen Lake can get very busy, especially on sunny summer weekends. Even with roughly 600 parking spaces, once its full, their policy is to stop letting people in for safety reasons. | |

its a beautiful lake with awesome trails to hike but you gotta get there early in the day as it fills up super fast on nice days. the people who live along the street make decent coin selling parking spots on their property for $5 in the summer lol

Seems like this thread has fallen off, hoping to revive it a bit! Been out to stave these past couple weekends, driving around and watching a couple people bury their vehicles on the flats.
As the weather gets nice I am looking forward to more outings and checking out some lakes to do some fishing.
Some recent rough shots from stave. |

Went exploring last night to test out my new KO2's in the rain/mud. Not a problem... ran into a super-soft hill (not pictured) that I couldn't get up in 2WD but no problem in 4WD High.

Over the last year or two I've been taking a few more risks with my subaru to see what it is capable of. Tried to get up to Mount Cheam today but the cross ditches proved to be too risky for my liking so i turned back after getting halfway up the road. Ended up hiking up to Lindeman lake instead which was quite pleasant, gotta love those koolaid blue lakes.
Besides that, the car handles pretty damn well on most fsr's that I've ventured on. ground clearance is always a deal breaker though. Looking into getting a forester turbo next and getting it lifted so I can conquer the majority of the roads around this province.
Here's a few flicks from some adventures from the summer so far.
last month I went on a hot springs tour/lilloet loop. Stopped at skookumchuk hot springs, keyhole hot springs, birkenhead lake, anderson lake, lilloet and a few random stops along the trans canada. Had to do most of the lilloet river road to skookumchuk in pouring rain at twilight. Had a little to much fun trying to be a rally driver on some of those clear corners and got the car nice and dirty.
Decided to take a random road before I got to lilloet to get a better view of a waterfall. The road was a little too rough and I didn't have a good idea of where it went so i turned around.
birkenhead lake
Andersen lake
Another adventure last month had me up east harrison road until I reached a hot springs. I think it was called clear water hot springs? There were a few sketchy creek crossings but the ground clearance was manageable. |

I'm living in Pemberton now so if you guys are wheeling up around that way give me a shout! I'm always up for a drive and I'd love to start exploring the area.
