Surprised there isn't a thread about this. Apparently - they originally went to James Cameron - who told them that there wasn't technology right now to shoot a movie like this. Then they went to Alfonso Cuaron - who shot Children of Men - who created the technology to shoot it.
I'm watching Ultra AVX on saturday. I'm staying away from watching more trailers and reviews - just want to go in less expectations.

I watched the screener on Wednesday and this film is brilliant! Very surprised that there are only two actors in the entire film and still can be so powerful. It actually feels like you're part of the experience. Beautifully shot. Highly recommended!
my friend is a director and he said it's a MUST watch and you really need to go watch it with 3D. I'm planning to watch it on Tuesday. Lastly, the reviews has been really really positive and it's going to be a great ride. Go enjoy it. I don't doubt that it's going to be epic.
It was a cool experience in 3D and Ultra avx. There's really no other way to watch this film and leave satisfied. I also enjoyed the acting from Bullock and Clooney.

Watched it tonight in IMAX 3D at colossus, it was very enjoyable perfect length and it wasn't like overly crazy or anything
As dumb as it sounds the visuals were so impressive about 1/4 of the way through I was like "ohh yea..this wasn't filmed in space" lol Posted via RS Mobile
Good movie. 1.5 hrs is perfect for this type of movie. Wasn't dragged out longer than necessary.
The 3D is worth it, occasionally, things fly toward the viewer, like it's going to hit you in the face.
So it's not like the "fake 3D" movies where you just get additional depth.

movie wasn't that deep... just kinda about her overcoming her own personal insecurities and shit.
Spoiler!
when clooney came back, i thought it would have some crazy space odyssey 2001 psychedelic twist, like she's already been long dead or whatever... but nope... she was just high on co2. HAHA... problem after problem... even after she landed on earth, she started to drown sorta... as she was climbing out of the swamp or marsh, i thought some animal would try to attack her lol... really bad day.
I think anybody that goes in expecting some amazing plot twist and deep philosophical thinking is going to be disspointed. This movie is about the experience, the experience of being in space and the experience in a desperate life or death situation. in that sense the movie totally nail it
