I think everyone assumed that his title win was a bit on the flukey side/Rockhold being unprepared... I know I did! He could easily have been 0-5 or 1-4 in his last 5 fights.

Every time he won I was thinking "How the fuck is he winning these fights?" I had that same feeling with Weidman too.
I thought for sure he would at least defend it once. So who's going to fight for it? Not, Bisping! hahahhahha Guess he should have waited a bit before taking another fight. There might have been a good chance of him fighting for the vacant title.
Edit: Looks like Wittaker has been declared Champ and will fight Rockhold for the title. GSP has a medical condition and that's why the belt was given up.
GSP can blame it on whatever medical condition he wants but he's giving it up because he's too small for the division. He made it out alive against the likes of Bisping but he's smart and knows it wouldn't be good for him to face any real killers in that division.
He could always catch him with a punch, GSP hasn't exactly been untouchable in his last few fights. More than likely Conor would get taken down and kept there though.
All I know is that fight would make tons of money and the window for it isn't going to last forever.
what's the fun when there is a different fight every weekend and all the big cards get changed due to injury. For us long time fans we don't care as much as we did 10 years ago but as a whole I think the UFC is doing very well with the general public and outside of NA
this chat isnt a gauge of ufc popularity. its a gauge of internet forum popularity
Is there a difference? I don't talk about it with my friends anymore. No gym chit chat about the last card or awesome fights. It's like it dropped off the Map. The GSP fight had some hype and other than that I haven't followed or anything in Months. I'm still a huge fan but.... where did it go?
I am just a big fight fan, no matter who laces the gloves. I don't follow all the names, it just isn't my thing from sports to famous actors, I only know a few. I watch for entertainment and then I am onto the next thing. I imagine there are a lot of fans similar.
There may be a few cards a year that have enough good fights on it where I care enough to watch it. It's a far cry from ten years ago when I wanted to watch almost every single PPV that came out. Maybe I've just gotten older and care less about it, or the cards are just too watered down these days, who knows.
I was just thinking yesterday that I couldn't quickly come up with who the champions are off the top of my head. Not that I think that's the most important part of UFC, but I at least always knew who the champs were.
Is Conor still a champion or have they stripped him yet?
