Berz out.

you mentioned gym chat.

how busy is the workout thread these days?:okay: people don't web forum anymore.

It's definitely not as busy, as you can see. But I think the point remains that MMA isn't as popular as it once was either. I remember the times of everyone talking about the latest goofballs on TUF, it was a star making show. I would watch every event with big names and intriguing matchups. UFC, Pride, Elite FC, Strikeforce, WEC, everything had some interesting matchups and good storylines.

Now it's mostly dull, with a few "superfights" here and there.

I don't know if it was the big sale, or USADA, or just changing times and tastes. Maybe it's a combination of everything.

im totally ok with them stripping him of the title. i dont think the point of that was to hold it, but just to prove the point that he could

i blame reebok Kappa

Too much saturation. UFC was popular and well liked when the cards were few and far between. I remember back in the PPV cards were once a month, maybe even less, those were always occasions for my buddy's and I to all get together as a big group. Now the cards seem to be every other week, so we rarely setup times as a group to watch them anymore, just too much saturation. They watered their product down, USADA has a place in this issue as well.

Verdasco 12-29-2017 01:38 AM

its because the fights and fighters changed as well, USADA somewhat changed this but it felt like there was more big namers around

Machida in his prime, rashad evans, rampage, lidell, tito, rua, GSP, silva, even when jones started ripping up people in his younger year, every PPV was a must watch

now it dulled down to more strategic fights that makes sense from a fighter's standpoint (especially with lighter classweights not delivering KO's and TKO's due to their weight) and USADA clearing out the power scene in UFC. Less stars than before in my opinion as well..... some great fighters we are witnessing still but they are clearing up some divisions too easily.

Berzerker 12-29-2017 09:30 AM

I think you nailed it. Look at that whole list of guys you posted. All of them but GSP were LHW monsters. That was a killer division. 205 was deadly and exciting. Now all we have is a bunch of little guys that really don't draw.

Berz out.

RRxtar 12-29-2017 09:58 AM

plus HW is weak and LHW is even weaker. ffs shogun is still in the top 5 lol

this year has been brutal for injuries as well and looong periods of inactivity. there has also been the conor effect where fighters are now fighting less, and entertaining more.
2016 i think was a pretty solid year if you objectively think back tho.

regarding saturation, yes and no. PPV quality isnt alot worse (well, this year it was). you used to only have 1 good headliner and a pile of no namers below it, and you could only watch the main card, not the undercard. with 3 or 4 stand out cards per year (may, july, nye cards). we still get those handfull of powerfull PPVs a year. also, you arent supposed to watch every single fight night and fight pass etc unless you're interested in the fighters. there are now just more cards thrown in in between the big ones but you cant say the UFC sucks because theres more content.

if you want it to be the way it was, just watch the main card of the top 3 PPVs and ignore the rest.

I used to watch 82 canucks games a year. now i watch 0. not because the canucks suck, but because as an adult i dont have that time and my interests have moved on.

Who you guys got? Cyborg or holm? Rooting for holm

whitev70r 12-30-2017 10:04 PM

1/2 decent fight between Cyborg and Holm, went the distance. Both fighters took a lot of punches. Kudos to both for a good fight and especially Holm.

Verdasco 12-31-2017 09:31 AM

what a shitty fucking card

4/5 of the main card is decision

before the main card, 3/4 ruled decision and one draw

thank fuckign god i didnt go out to watch this shit snooze fest

there is your reason on why UFC sucks. The best thing about this card is khabib, and he got a decision which was close to being a TKO (stoppage)

why would anyone think of spending money on a card that has welterweight as the highest weight class and THEY CONSIST OF CONDIT AND MAGNY OF ALL PEOPLE...... LOL....

Can't blame the UFC for the way these fights go lol. Just the most recent card or 2 cards ago was insane. Almost all stoppages even with the lower weight classes

Also : holy fuk. How have I never heard of Megan Anderson before

I enjoyed the Cyborg fight, it showed that she isn't just a brawler who bullies smaller opponents. She is VERY technical and VERY smart, talented, and strong af. Great fight! This should earn her some new fans, and maybe even silence the haters a bit ( LUL )

I hope Joanna is the underdog this time, I think she's going to KO Rose

She bought into her own hype, you could tell. I think she'll adjust accordingly and win
