Glad they threw in the towel, could have done it earlier. We didn't really get to see a competitive fight, as it seems Wilder's eardrum broke or something, and he just had no power after round 2. So he's just sitting there getting beat up and clinching for 5 more rounds.

I think because of the way things went, they could do a rematch before fighting anyone else. This was surely a huge fight money wise

GLOW 02-23-2020 08:36 PM

man what kind of head trauma causes eardrums to bleed :heckno:

SkinnyPupp 02-23-2020 08:48 PM

Turns out it was a cut, not eardrums. Still, it seemed to fuck up his ability to fight so we got the dominating victory. Maybe it would have gone this way anyway, Wilder seems like the purest form of "puncher's chance" you could ever have.

Exciting and hyped though, usually when I buy into a boxing match, I feel let down by the end of it

mikemhg 02-29-2020 01:17 PM

We watched the fight in Hawaii live, was pretty crazy to see how different Wilder looked.

He looked toast from the first round, was very odd to watch.

I think it's time for Fury/Joshua for the unification, Wilder should get a rematch for sure, but I'd like to see him in the ring and beat someone before the next rematch, given how badly he lost there.

fliptuner 03-07-2020 11:54 PM

Holy hematoma. That women's fight was a fucking war.

SpeedStars 03-08-2020 12:18 AM

The adesanya fight... :fulloffuck: I mean I get that it's hard to follow up with the strawweight fight but really the fk was that?? Less action in the 4 rounds than there was in the first 30 seconds of the Zhang fight. I'd feel bad for anyone who paid good money to sit at the arena or even PPV

SkinnyPupp 03-08-2020 09:51 AM

That Zhang Joanna fight was probably my favourite UFC fight in at least 5 years, maybe more. Just a WAR! I honestly did not expect Joanna to look that good, but she was sharp and didn't get tired at all. Meanwhile Zhang is a buzzsaw and well look at what she did.

I like Zhang and I hope she's treated well at her camp. She is definitely their "product" and we've all heard horror stories of how these athletes are treated. I just hope she makes money and gets out fighting when it's time.

Seeing Joanna reminded me of this

The Stylebender/Romero fight was bad but the promos were fantastic

GLOW 03-09-2020 05:59 PM

i knew shit was gonna get weird when i saw yoel miss a round kick and then pivotted on his foot in slow mo. i thought he had some genius game plan to land a strike or two to try to steal the first 2 rounds and then explode in the later rounds...then nope...
:okay:

kevin lee talking about he chokes himself out?:lawl::fulloffuck::seriously:

mikemhg 03-16-2020 11:10 AM

Not good on his part, a gracious loss is always more endearing to the public.

My man Johnny Walker looked like shit, guess that hype train is over :( Crazy to think last year people were talking about him beating Jon Jones, LOL.

SkinnyPupp 03-16-2020 03:37 PM

Johnny Walker had hype because of his personality and fighting style. He was only going to get absolutely destroyed by Bones

I haven't seen the fight yet, but I wonder if fucking up his shoulder really affected him for the rest of his life. If so, that's really damn embarrassing LUL

MarkyMark 03-16-2020 04:43 PM

Sounds like the UFC is going to do whatever they can to keep Khabib vs Tony going next month but man, this fight truly is cursed if it doesn't happen this time around.

Berzerker 03-26-2020 10:49 AM

Jones arrested for DUI again? And weapon offense?

Berz out.

SkinnyPupp 03-26-2020 03:41 PM

What a fuckup

Well it's nice to know there's still some stability in this world, Jones gonna Jones.

SkinnyPupp 03-27-2020 03:27 PM

If it's not over for Jones, he needs to move to a new city and never talk to his "friends" ever again. They're practically as responsible for all this as he is.

mikemhg 03-28-2020 12:19 PM

^I said this about JJ before.

He absolutely needs to leave Albuquerque, the cops out there have long had a hard on for him.

I don't think it's over for him, he has too much talent, people will pay to watch him fight, whether they like him or not.

He clearly has substance abuse issues, and that's really the sad part. So much talent. The man needs to move away, get away from his toxic buddies, get a handle on his alcoholism.

It's amazing how much he's been able to dominate the LHW division, meanwhile being a complete addict this entire time. Imagine if he wasn't battling those demons, can't imagine how much better in the ring he'd be.

I don't know if you listen to JRE, but on a recent episode a guest (Bert Kreischer, who is a crazy partier and in fact they made a movie about him) wondered what it would be like to party with JJ. Joe's reaction to it was intense... Like nooooooooo, he goes DEEP. That was even before this latest incident.

He is a serious addict, and the fact that people want to pay to watch him probably makes it a million times worse.

what's the story with this? you'd think he'd be a local hero or something putting the place on the map (despite his issues).

or has his partying crazy ways made it difficult for local authorities hence what you were saying?

i haven't followed his out of the ring antics much other than what read here and on joe or ariel's podcasts...

mikemhg 03-29-2020 10:36 AM

I did hear that interview with Bert on JRE, Skinny. I somewhat stopped listening to Joe Rogan as I started finding his podcast somewhat old, but given COVID, it's decent enough background noise off Youtube on the TV.

As for the story behind it, Jon and people close around him have mentioned numerous times about the police in Albuquerque.

Jon is a black man with a lot of money, and the good ol' boys are none too much a fan of that, which is why he's pulled over literally all the time out there.

One of the officers that pulled him over in the past has received numerous complaints from citizens claiming they were profiled.

This happens a lot in these southern states, especially in certain counties. It's obvious the police down there have it out for him.

The DOJ has also investigated their police department in order to reform their practices against their colored population:

I don't care if his camp is there, it's time to move on, he's rich enough to have his trainers and sparring partners to come to him somewhere else.

It's so easy for people to forget how fucked up things still are down there, if we're anywhere else living the good life in a better place.

Jones needs to gtfo of there for his own good. Who knows.

Also I don't know if anyone has been paying attention to Dana White, but the virus is driving him INSANE. He's been forced to shut down shows, but he absolutely INSISTS that Tony vs Khabib will take place in some way (he needs an opponent for Conor). He said he'd have the show on the moon if he could, and I don't doubt that one bit.

He is still trying to put on shows in Brazil, despite the virus definitely starting to take hold there (might not here many stats from there until they hit record breaking levels though  )

Also

Manic! 03-30-2020 03:45 PM

Khabib is stuck in Russia so it looks like he is out.
