I see a big event coming up this weekend, UFC 286 with Usman and Edwards. I think Usman will hand Edwards his arse ... Edwards be talking trash after a lucky kick. I pick Usman.
The other one, Gaethje and Fiziev .. don't know the other guy that well, haven't followed him so go with the known figher, hard hitting Gaethje?
Very surprised. Looks like the Usman era is over. It's crazy how quickly age catches up to you in your mid-30s. He looked much different from even 2 years ago.

100% he looked far from "the next GSP" that he did even one year ago when he was dominating Edwards before getting caught. Not that he looked bad - he will be a threat for anyone wanting to reach the top for a while. Just not quite the same anymore. I don't know if it was age (10 years of MMA is a fucking lot) or his mental or what (maybe coming back to fight this guy wasn't a good idea?), but he's just not the same.
I know there was a lot of trash talking prior to fight between Edwards and Usman but props to him for conciliatory Octagon interview. Father time has caught up with a great one.

He's 35 and has the knees of a 60 year old. He can't even do roadwork because his knees are so bad.
I'd say he still has a few good fights in him, but I think we're coming to the end of his career here.

Well the first MMA thread is long gone, but many of us (ha!) predicted that WWE and UFC would eventually merge, since they are the exact same type of product. That fact made some people very mad, but I don't think those people come here any more.
I wanna see jacked up roided guys fighting again. TRT Vitor, Ubereem, the sport was so much more fun when they weren't testing like that.
I miss those old Pride days of the super freaks, hopefully ol' Vince will bring that back.
You'll see it when Conor comes out of retirement 20 lbs heavier
And that's not a joke, it's his exact plan.
I agree though, there's too many geeks and guys with beards and fuzzy hats in UFC to make it interesting. And the more appealing fighters like Usman are losing their touch. Bring back the freak shows! I hope it gets popular in Japan again somehow. They love kickboxing right now, mostly lighter weights.
