i didn't watch the PPV but i read dana stated overeem looked 'bad' or 'didn't have a good performance'.

didn't he dominate mir and control the fight, even on the ground? at least that's what i read...and he outstruck mir something like 159 to 5??? and something like 60 to 3 in significant strikes???

is overeem's contract up and he's trying to devalue him or something? or is he mad he didn't go for the finish to make it exciting? he tried that last 2 times and gassed and got KO'd for his troubles. i don't see anything wrong with trying to change his strategy to win.

Ch28 02-03-2014 10:04 AM

Probably the same reason he said Benson had a bad fight. They like guys that go in to fight for the finish. That's why guys like Dan Hardy can lose 4 fights in a row but still have a contract lol

GLOW 02-03-2014 10:37 AM

i guess the "just bleed" guys are the ones buying the PPV's and he has to appease them :lol

Overeem destroyed Mir in every way, just didn't finish him. Dana was just being Dana. It happens when there is a shitty show with only 1 or 2 finishes. He just goes off saying stupid shit he later regrets.

Ive always been a huge Dana supporter. But in about the last 6 months it seems like hes going above and beyond his usual self and being way out of line and extremely disrespectful. The GSP thing was a huge one and he took alot of heat for it. It seems lately hes not just calling guys out, but degrading them very publicly when it usually isnt deserved.

It used to just be Steve Mazzagatti that got the Dana-wrath.

SkinnyPupp 02-03-2014 05:23 PM

I disagree somewhat, as I think Dana has always called out fighters/refs/judges/press. The only difference lately is he is calling out guys like GSP which it seems like he never would have done before.

There are (completely unfounded) rumors of GSP wanting to start a union for fighters. If that's the case, it would really explain Dana's comments.

wow @ barao's pay... sure hes not that big a draw but that seems ridiculous

RRxtar 02-03-2014 09:08 PM

He is probably near the end of his contract and ready to sign a bigger money deal especially now that hes a champ. Before 2 fights ago no one knew who he was. But 11/11 is absolutely terrible for a guy whos been on the main card for 5+ fights

MarkyMark 02-03-2014 09:38 PM

Looking at the pay it's no wonder Dana was pissed at Overeem lol

Anthony Johnson is back to the UFC for UFC 172 against Phil Davis.

Guy has been on a tear since he was released from the UFC going 6-0 with 4 KOs including Mike Kyle, Jake Rosholt, David Branch, and beating up on Arlovski.

Berzerker 02-05-2014 09:52 AM

What does he weigh these days?

GLOW 02-05-2014 10:16 AM

his weight fluctuations can't be healthy long term i'm thinking

Not really racist! 02-05-2014 12:20 PM

aldo and camp want the fight catchweight 150 so he doesn't risk losing his title or virtually having to move up to fight bigger and tougher guys at 155

fuark this...

GLOW 02-05-2014 12:55 PM

so why does he need to vacate his title?

RRxtar 02-05-2014 02:19 PM

bout 350.

Not really racist! 02-05-2014 02:19 PM

might have phrased my post weird... but Dana in the presser said if the fight is to happen Aldo vacates and moves up to 155...

the question is actually why does he NOT vacate his title
he's almost cleaned out his division and he cuts a lot of weight to get to 145
plus when he's actually fighting for a (new) title he won't be boring and always trying to go for the decision/being safe and actually go for finishes

GLOW 02-05-2014 02:28 PM

when GSP and Penn fought wasn't Penn LW champ at the time?

Not really racist! 02-05-2014 02:46 PM

GSP and Penn were both draws, both could make $$$ alone like mad

Aldo is a terrible draw, so him vacating for a new champ (cub/mendes) makes sense
and if he loses against Pettis at 155 without vacating, its almost like the 145 division is compromised.. not sure if you understand what i mean but ya

SkinnyPupp 02-05-2014 03:19 PM

Anthony Johnson called out Overeem, saying he was never really on the Blackzillians (fuck I hate that name).

Anthony Johnson: Overeem never a Blackzilian, he was Team Alistair | FOX Sports on MSN

He could easily fight at HW so that would be an interesting matchup

jdmhaze 02-05-2014 04:57 PM

Hopefully Johnson can make weight :troll:

Thiago Silva threatens people inside jiujitsu school at gunpoint, barricades self inside home
Share37 1475 17

Thiago Silva just got himself in a load of trouble.

According to sources close to BJPENN.COM, we have learned that upon hearing of his wife’s possible infidelities with her Jiu Jitsu coach, Pablo Popovich, the top UFC light-heavyweight barged into their school gun-drawn, looking for Pablo.

He then left the scene to barricade himself inside his home while the Broward Sheriff department SWAT team placed a perimeter outside the home.

This all went down tonight, just a few hours ago.

More on this as it becomes available.

SkinnyPupp 02-06-2014 08:42 PM

You can sometimes tell when a guy is fucked up and will snap eventually in some way... Silva is one of those guys

BTW did you know he used to be a male prostitute? :ahwow:

Not sure if he serviced men or women or both though

Berzerker 02-07-2014 07:59 AM

He was tazered and taken into custody. No bond is going to be issued for fears of him going back to Brazil with no extradition.

RRxtar 02-07-2014 09:05 AM

Lol his lawyer said in court he has an IRS wage garnishment in place and is completely broke unless he fights and wins at ufc171. An hour later Dana terminated his contract.

Wtf is with these guys and not paying taxes
