Not surprised by Vitor testing. I believe he has a 1 fight license with stipulations like random testing. Like Overeem had. Obviously they are going to want to test his the first chance they get
something about the way cormier talks i don't like. just rubs me the wrong way. but he did a pretty good job in skinny's vid. calling him patrick not pat
To me.. that was hard to watch.. they were trying so harddd to pump up the fight. from cummins getting fired on the spot...making cormier cry lol...
Yeah you're right, it would be much smarter for them to just let peoples interest build on their own merits... Who cares if literally nobody has heard of the guy, and he works in a coffee shop? If they want to be taken "seriously" as a "true sport" then they can't do promotion like this.
Pat Cummins is going to get his 15min of fame, and that'd be it. There's a reason why D.C was an Olympian and Pat wasn't. Plus, from those fights of Pat, looks like he brings it to the ground, which he won't be able to against D.C.
Surprised noones talking about Machida tmr, He's shredded.
Pat was a better wrestler than CV back when they were both in university btw. He is a very good wrestler. Probably not good enough to beat DC, but he has credentials. Just hope this doesn't derail his potential early or something like that
Anyone else watch the machida mousasi fight? I wonder who mousasi should f fight next. I thought machida was not a good fight for him with it being his 2nd fight in the ufc Posted via RS Mobile
That was a shitty show, and I am kind of going back to hating Machida again.. maybe these guys are getting too evenly matched. This is the second show in a row where there were 10 decisions and 2 finishes. This also set the record for longest night ever, with 3 hours of actual fighting. That sounds like it should be good, but most of the fights were boring.
I miss Strikeforce, they always had these awesome lopsided cards with a lot of exciting fights and wild finishes.
Erik Silva looked good, but his opponent had no business being there in the ring with him.
Machida was never in any real danger against Mousassi, and he should have finished him, or at least tried. Instead he "stuck to the plan" of circling around him all night, and occasionally throwing combinations.
As for who Mousassi fights, there are plenty of guys at 185 who are stuck in limbo. Hell Francis Carmont may be a good one, I thought he looked good despite losing. If you can survive with Jacare on your back for 2 full rounds, that is a feat in itself IMO
I guess they'll do Machida vs the winner of Weidman/Belfort but personally I think he should fight Jacare and have that winner go for the title
^ I agree with the fighting from that card. Everyone fought to not lose, rather than fighting to finish and win - aka boring. Though Erick Silva came out like a beast and entertained me for less than a minute.
Mousasi gives a lot of credit to Machida for that fight.. No excuses or complaints on how that fight went down... I think that's a first time I've ever heard someone not complain of Machida's style

“I don’t know. I think he was just better,” Mousasi said at the post-event news conference after suffering his first loss in the UFC. “I couldn’t get into my game. He was just a step before me always. I don’t know about the scoring – maybe I had one round. Maybe two.”
As many others have experienced against Machida in the past, Mousasi said finding a way to score points against the karate expert became an issue.
Machida, a former light heavyweight champion, won for the second straight time after dropping down to middleweight and may have put himself in line for a title shot – though he’ll have to wait to see what happens between champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort in May.
“It was difficult to get the rhythm,” Mousasi said. “I didn’t feel like I had the range. He was masterful in his defense. I just couldn’t get started.”
Mousasi also shrugged off the thought that his 10-month layoff since his UFC debut win over Ilir Latifi this past April, and his subsequent knee surgery, had him experiencing any of the dreaded cage rust.
“It could be, but I don’t think so,” he said. “I think rhythm helps always. But I felt good going into the fight and I had no injuries.”
Didn't watch the fights but I figured it would be a dull one. Mousasi's nickname is 'the dream catcher' but it should be the 'snooze maker'. He is skilled, but so uninspired. And Machida rarely fights moving forward.
