A day after the State Athletic Commission of Nevada (NSAC) announce the end of exemptions for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in fights in the state, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) decided to follow the decision and also prohibit use of the controversial treatment in the country. In an interview with "SporTV News" on the morning of Friday, Dr. Márcio Tannure, medical director of the commission, said the body also adopted the measure, which is already worth U.S..
"We've been discussing this already here in the Brazilian athletic commission some time ago, is not today, and how we use the athletic commission of Nevada as our mirror, we decided to also make the same decision here in Brazil and not release the use of TRT for any athlete" Tannure said.
The NSAC regulates events of non-armed struggle in the state of Nevada, where Las Vegas is located, and is the most influential state athletic commission in the U.S.. The decision taken by the council committee on the afternoon of Thursday to be followed by other similar entities across the country. The UFC has officially announced that it will follow the new protocol in international tournaments in which it operates as its own regulatory body.
If in the U.S. to ban the TRT is effective immediately, in Brazil, however, the commission will open an exception for American Dan Henderson , who is the main event of UFC: Shogun vs. Henderson 2 , on 23rd March at Christmas . "Hendo" is one of the athletes making use of hormone replacement program and, as he had applied for an exemption with the CABMMA that comes the testing for this purpose, you can still receive the exemption. A decision on your license must be made up to two weeks before the tournament.
Vitor Belfort , assumed another user TRT, announced early on Friday that left UFC 173 in Las Vegas, where he would face Chris Weidman, and gave up asking permission to fight in the city, for unfeasibility of time to adapt without treatment. Tannure said the time to "cleanse" the body of synthetic testosterone varies from one person to another.
"That depends from agency to agency and from athlete to athlete. This may take three to six months in your body, but it is a very individual thing. Have substances that can be taken in your body within one year of stopping use" Tannure said.
i was reading tweets from fighters' reactions. 1 guy was on TRT and said that the doc told him to get off it, train less, sleep more and then he wont need it so that's what he did and he felt great again.
I honestly don't know who will win. It's likely that Machida will just circle around for 5 rounds, taking hits and attempting counters. On the other hand, we have seen him destroy people when he wants.. so I dunno... Machida is so annoying in that he can be the most exciting, or least exciting fighter on any given night.
