The glove grab could just be a spur of the moment thing where he's trying to get wrist control. What Romero and his corner did is straight up cheating. I'm a Big John supporter but he fucked up big on that. |

post-fight conference dana said a UFC guy applied the vasoline which complicates things, not sure how much that matters... i liked conor's answers in the post fight conference. |
I don't see how too much vasoline attributed to the dude not standing up off the stool until big john actually grabbed him and made him get up. It was pretty greasy and if it happened against a fighter Dana liked more I'm sure he would have lost his shit. |
Dana said it was 28 seconds total. From what I saw it looked like Tim was going for wrist control and his finger happened to slip into the glove. I dont think it was his game plan to put his fingers in the glove, I think he just didn't stop what he was doing to actively remove them. It was 2 punches that he landed, not like it was 10 seconds |
I went back and timed it. From the time Kennedy got up (he actually stood up earlier than the whistle) to the time Romero was stood up by the ref, was 17 seconds I don't think it was Kennedy's plan to hold the glove either. But he did, and that was an advantage... Romero had an extra 17 seconds to recover, Kennedy had a hand in the glove while throwing uppercuts.. Who cares right? In the end, Tim Kennedy got KTFO |

Shitty deal for him since he's been out for a bit with injuries already |
i guess the good news is he's only 27, so he won't be too "old" and still have a few years to compete at a high level. |
so ufc 179 this weekend. :fuckthatshit: |
how many of you even watch ufc anymore? I was a big fan when it began, catching all the ppv. Then I started to just watch it after it was out. Now, I just read the results and if its a really good card then i'd go find it The fad has totally died out |
i wouldn't call it a 'fad' and i wouldn't say it has died out. globally, i think the UFC is still growing massively. it is just changing. no longer are there 5-6 huge PPVs a year, now there are like 35 events a year spread around the globe, most of which are more of a regional show than a major event, as you can tell by how they are pushing fightpass so much now. for the casual fan, there is just a massive oversaturation of events with so many for free now, and nearly all of the huge stars are gone. remember when you waited 2+ months between events with massive headliner cards? then when they have a PPV, half the time its mighty mouse headlining it, and usually half of the main card are guys you've never heard of before. the 2014 has been pretty bad for PPVs but there are some good ones coming with JJ vs DC, Anderson vs Nick Diaz, Hendricks vs Lawler 2.. Its going to take another year to build a new set of starts. But you are right, its never going to be the way it was 5-8 years ago where everyone you know got together for the fights. I mean shit, I still get goosebumps thinking about the lead up to events like UFC 79. GSP/Hughes, Wanderlei/Chuck... could you imagine a card like that today? |
Yeah a lot of these PPV's they are pushing out these days are shit i'd expect to see for free on a Fight Night card. Me and my buddies will get together for the big main event fights, but stuff like UFC 179 isn't worth the 10 bucks i'd have to chip in to watch it lol |
The oversaturation of ppv events with subpar cards has killed a lot of what made it good years ago. |
the one thing that should be stated tho. as dana said, he wants MMA to be like every other mainstream sport. you dont watch every baseball game played every day, you watch the ones with the teams you want to see. we are already seeing double header same day 2 events. there will be a time where there are 2-3, maybe more events every weekend all over the world. for what its worth, Glory kickboxing is doing a fantastic job |
