Can DC keep up the pressure after JJ lands on him. Because unless it ends quick, he will
and JJ has shown he can gut it out in the championship rounds after taking a beating from Gus.
People saying DC is too emotional or amped up I think are wrong. He's just playing his role. He knows better than just about every other fighter how to promote a fight. I mean he was able to get people interested in a fight against a Starbucks barista...
I predict this one will do 350K, and Bones will be around 300K. Weidman/Belfort will be around 250K
I just remembered this prediction and went back to look at the numbers. Rousey/McMann ended up doing 340K so I was spot on there. Bones vs Texeira did 350K which was slightly better than I thought. Weidman/Belfort of course became Weidman/Machida, and had Rousey on the card too so that prediction is void. That one did 545K.
I think Rousey adds 150-200K to any card she's on.
Jones as a heel is so much more distinguishable this fight with Cormier playing the face extremely well. Previous fighters didn't really know how to promote fights properly, obviously aside from Chael, who really didn't stand a chance against Jones.
What makes this fight so exciting is that both fighters know their "roles" AND the fact Jones has a very, very legitimate threat to his throne. I love it. I feel like such a kid again being this giddy and excited.
seagal is smart this time. turn off the cameras so jones can't see the front kick/crane kick move that's gonna be coming....i predict finish by dim mak...
I've never seen a card where a one guy is clearly winning, but is still fighting so cautiously ending up in decisions instead of finishes. Every single fight has been like this!
