It means his testosterone to epitestosterone ratio was low. This does not mean low testosterone necessarily. Just for some reason the ratio is low. 1:1 is normal, 1:6 is a fail. They never mention low ratios, and he's not suspended so I don't think there's anything to it. Iole is just posting the number
Bones will be in rehab for a month... Come out a new man and he will thank god for giving him the strength to get through this and Dana will say the UFC will always support the fighters and everything will go back as normal..
They follow WADA guidelines, meaning most non-PED drugs outside competition don't lead to a suspension. When Dana says they test for rec. drugs, that's what he's talking about.
There's nothing hypocritical here, despite the idiotic editing. If Bones fails the post-fight test for cocaine or anything else, the decision will be reversed and he'll be suspended.
Otherwise, there's nothing to get up in arms about. He took cocaine - let that be between him and his family.
everyone should just stop believing everything that comes out from Dana from here on out.. the guy is full of shit
I bet everyone else would get fired if they did this..and Dana would say "we don't support these types of actions in ufc".. some shit like that.
Dana and the UFC and Jones could have easily played the "suspension part" while he's in rehab and just say he will be suspended to save face easily as that...strip him of his belt and say he's suspended 6 months.. cuz let's be real, jones will win it again when he comes back anyway.
Plus on that video, Dana said he found out about the positive result Dec. 4th as well.... yet they didn't let him go into rehab right away... yup, they care about him as a human being........
They didn't have to suspend - or pretend to suspend - Bones for this drug result. Cocaine is not a banned substance outside competition. There are many drugs that fall into this category, such as marijuana, etc. Drugs that ARE banned out of competition are things like steroids, masking agents, etc.
And of course he's not going to go into rehab a month before what is going to be one of the biggest fights this year, if not the decade. Come on... Going to rehab is a personal decision made by Jon Jones. If he wanted to defend his title first, he had every right to do so.
As for other people getting fired, no. Guys have had drug problems and have been supported by the company. Chris Leben failed for oxy in competition and was suspended by NSAC. He wasn't fired after that. He even got popped for steroids before this failure. UFC doesn't shit-can fighters just because internet fans bring out their pitchforks.
So, Rory Mac will be facing Hector Lombard at UFC 186 on Apr 25th.
Fucking HORRIBLE. This fight makes NO sense to ANYONE not named Hector Lombard.
First of all, it's a second consecutive lose-lose fight for Rory... as in the Saffiedine fight, he'll be a heavy favourite, so a loss would be a huge upset and put the brakes on his title shot, and a win doesn't do much at all for Rory unless it's an impressive, emphatic KO. (Except that he got one of those in the last fight, yet still had the title shot promised to him rescinded.)
It's also dangerous for the UFC. Rory is the only big-name Canadian fighter with a legit chance at the title, and they're already struggling with a shrinking fanbase in Canada.... imagine what a big upset loss would do for Rory's revenue potential? And how will you sell him as the wunkerkid GSP 2.0 future champ after a bad loss?
I don't think there's much chance of that happening in this fight, though. It's going to be a lopsided victory for Captain Creepy.
Quality of competition?? Lombard just defeated... oh right, Josh Burkman. He is on a nice roll and has a few big wins under his belt, but Rory has lost once since 2010, and it was a fairly close split decision against the current champ. Clear edge to Rory in terms of their records.
...and all of that might still produce an OK fight if there was an intriguing matchup of styles. But no, this will be a stinker, because the easiest and least dangerous way to defeat Lombard is for Rory to do what he did to Ellenberger and Woodley: tire out the opponent, and jab all the way to a 5 round technical striking unanimous decision.
Rory is a technical striker with excellent movement, reach, and a supreme ability control distance, which is great for neutralizing a clunky power puncher like Lombard. Neither Ellenberger nor Woodley came close to landing a big shot against Rory, and like Lombard, both have a grappling background and one-punch power. From what I recall, when Lawler beat MacDonald it was thanks to his aggression, movement, and ability to get inside and land shots. I don't think Lombard poses the same threats at all, especially in movement and controlling distance. It was not a good performance by Rory, either... although one would imagine he has improved since that loss.
I respect Lombard's pedigree and power/athleticism but unless he can sit in top control and grind out an upset decision, I don't see any place where he has an advantage. Rory will be faster, more technical, more calculated, and less likely to fade. He cannot take chances and risk getting caught with a big punch or getting trapped on the bottom. He'll control the distance, jab and beat Lombard in a technical boxing match, and keep the fight standing until the later rounds.
After the fight, Rory will be criticized for playing it safe and not finishing a tired Lombard in the late rounds. The same people who are screaming "this is the guy who will destroy boring rory" before the fight will be the ones preaching about what a bum Hector is and downplaying the significance of a win.
To cap it all off, Lombard just fought so this dullness is nearly four months away, and Rory has already had a few months rest on the back of an easy TKO victory.
the whole rehab thing was just a PR move. hey at least he can say he went. lol
he probably doesnt need to be in rehab. rehab is to get addicts out of the environment where they cant help themselves. im sure JJ is a recreational user. he needs to remove bad people from his life and add positive people. its not just a fame thing, its part of growing up that everyone needs to do in their mid 20s
Hendricks/Lawler III is off, and Hendricks is fighting Matt Brown instead. That should be a good one but I wish it was 5 rounds.
Lawler has said he doesn't want to fight again until summer
As for Hendo, he didn't even know he was fighting Cowboy until the fight was announced. That is some weird shit... I like the way Henderson fights but he rubs me the wrong way. I'm just hoping for a good fight
