those are actually cobra Rs which are even more awesome, i think ford really did a disservice and disrespect to SVT by going after baby boomers and renaming their high performance mustangs shelby gt500s instead of continuing their SVT Cobra branding which had a lot more relevance to people in my generation.
between the cobra, cobra Rs, lightnings and even the focus and the contour SVT had a pretty good rep until they dropped the branding
Agreed. I was a big fan of SVT branding. Something about "Special Vehicles Team" made it sound like it was given to an in house performance division to tweak instead of just being another assembly line trim level. Like the ///M line used to be for BMW
I think I read something that the next generation will be dropping "Shelby" from its branding as that ended with the outgoing generation. Im sure there will be a "Shelby tribute" model sooner than later tho.
But for what its worth, SVT is still active and is the group that is developing the Mustang GT500. The F150 Raptor is still actually F150 SVT Raptor. and has branding on the tailgate and fender grills
i get confused with the svt badging on the current gt500. it says shelby of course, but on parts of the car such as the wheels, it says svt, and there is the svtpp option (stands for "svt performance package")...

i can't find a GM dealer that has an SS 1LE in stock that is not customer ordered to test drive... they always seem to more more concerned about chrome wheels and stripe packages rather than performance

why? wait till this thing gets in the hands of tuners. comes with forged internals.. its going to be making big power with a tune and possibly bigger turbo.
maybe it's age, or because i'm tired of dealing with warranty issues, but these days i like it more when the car is good straight out of the box.
