Laughing at, making fun of, and insulting other people does not mean you have a sense of humor. It means you are an asshole.
I personally disagree. Even the above icon that I chose makes people laugh at the way the face expresses a shattered male self-esteem. Or is laughing at a concept somewhat less repulsive than laughing at a person directly?

I agree with Peter North on this one.

Was listening to the radio this morning and couldn't help but laughing at this ongoing debate about the distribution of police officers in the GVRD.
The surrey PD is comparing themselves to new west, port moody, and west van. Claiming those departments have more PO per capita. Which is true, but if you look at it, most of the municipalities on their list, are separate PD's. They are not RCMP like surrey is.
I don't disagree that Surrey needs more policing, but for them to ask the gov't to redistribute more PO's from other areas to theirs because they have a higher rate of severe crime is ridiculous. The population of these municipalities pay a lot of fee's and taxes for their police, I can only imagine the outrage of other residents paying for extra PO's to police surrey, while the residents there get to continue cheaply living in their huge 5000sq/ft houses....
It is my understanding that municipal governments dictate and hire the number of RCMP officers serving their area. The RCMP supernintendo recommends X number of new officers and the municipality decides if they can afford it or not. If they hire more cops, the officers are paid in municipal tax dollars.
If surrey wants more cops, raise taxes and hire more cops.

I'm certainly no expert, but from what I understand, yes, this is how the system is supposed to work; however, in this situation residents have stepped in and started some sort of mis-informed movement to re-distribute a large number of PO's to the neighborhoods with the greatest amounts of severe crime, and the Surrey RCMP has endorsed the initiative saying how the system isn't fair.
And it really just leaves everyone like .
I don't know much about New West, Port Moody, or some of the other cities mentioned, but I do know West Van, and the residents there pay out the ass for benefits like their own PD and other amenities like the blue bus system and the list goes on. It makes no sense to take the money that that municipality has raised and use it to fix Surrey's problems. The people of Surrey choose to live there to some degree, be it for reasons like the fact they want a bigger house, or family lives there or any number of other reasons, they chose those amenities. I don't want to say they chose those amenities over safety, but obviously they had to know the downfalls of the neighborhood they were buying into.
Either way, I do believe much of surrey could benefit from better policing, but the answer is not to pull police from other places just to make up the difference.

RCMP are short staffed everywhere because of municipalities deciding on lower numbers. Cops are being over worked and burned out in the busier areas.

You missed Courtenay/Comox Valley. Its at least top 10 material.
She taught me right from wrong and always told me to stay positive and help others no matter how small the deed - that helping others gives us meaning to carry on. The sun is out today and it's a new day. Life is good. I just needed a slap in the face.

I think many people on RS would find themselves at home in those cities. Lots of blue collar jobs, cheap housing, and a place to work on their stable of 5-6 cars, bike, quad, etc. The only thing that would suck about living in those cities is getting parts to service the toys - you'd have to pay local distributers an arm and a leg, or wait like 2-3 weeks to get an exhaust shipped from the States to the Peace River.
Finding a wife might be difficult too, I suppose, because how many good looking and smart women stay in small towns? Not many, I reckon. Posted via RS Mobile
I go there pretty often (my cousin and his wife along with a couple of friends live up their because they're stationed in Comox) and I've always found it pretty average. Lots of good scenery in the area.
not that I care but I honestly think Surrey's reputation would drastically improve once they get rid of the white people there. (nobody likes a white trash)
