Btw it's funny I don't think we're getting Healy's mic so there's a lot of dead air. I'm hearing burps and/or farts. So awkward lol

Better than hearing Healy

Knowing my pal Glenn Healy, only live streaming of OLY I'd like to see now would be Heals' reaction while waiting for his mic to work.

When it comes to Olympics standings, gold medals ARE the only ones that count....Silver, followed by bronze, are only tie-breakers.

Here's the 2010 standings:

IMO only Gold medals should count, its still really early into the games and most countries up top not far apart each other in Golds. No competitive athlete sets out to be the second or third best. Ask the Broncos how they felt being second best or the Canucks in 2011 how it felt only winning the Presidents Trophy and West title.

On another note, anyone else liking team Canada mens hockey over 5.5 goals vs Norway and Russia/Slovenia game over 6.5? Looks solid to me. Hit on Sweden and Switzerland regulation win today.

Maybe they should assign points to each medal - such as 4 for gold, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze. Then rank the countries by points.

Looks like they upped it to over 6.5, still tempted though.
& The jokinen (2.75x) over kessel bet might be a good one. Phil Kessel sucked in the 2010, and not sure how he can handle the larger ice. Nvm, read that kessel is use to it and might thrive on it.

What are people's thoughts about the cauldron being lit up? 200 grand to light up a cauldron is a pretty big chunk of taxpayer dollars. Yeah, no kidding some corporate sponsorship would help lower the tax burden on people.

You can show the Olympic spirit at a fraction of the cost:

Y! SPORTS

That was a joke. Maybe the rules are different from NHL,
but play is dead if the ref even has the intent to blow the whistle.

How does a goal still stand when the whistle was clearly blown
well before the puck crossed the line, on top of that, with video review.
:fulloffuck:
It's a simple "black & white" rule.

I'd be pretty miffed if nearby businesses like Cactus Club doesn't contribute anything. They're likely the ones who'll benefit the most out of this.

Why isn?t Vancouver?s Olympic flame burning in honour of Sochi?

Quote:

According to the Vancouver Convention Centre’s Jinny Wu, the Olympic cauldron can be lit, but it will be at a cost and only for special occasions. To turn the flame on, she said it would run about $6,400.

Vancouver’s cauldron, which is fuelled by natural gas, costs about $6,400 to light for just four hours, and will burn up an estimated $200,000 by the time the Games end.

It should definitely been it up.

Some sort of sponsorship through Terasen Gas / FortisBC / Cactus Club / another large corporation or two should have easily been able to cover the bill.
