I can't imagine who in their right mind would get a WRX with a CVT...

I had a family friend that bought a 4A WRX because be drove 95% city often DT and in rush hour, often being stuck in traffic jams and going uphill during rush hour like Canada Way.
Happens more than you think

Me. (as second car)

I Dont't trust GF with 6speed

I would rather have a traditional slush box or a dual clutch set up. Something about that much horsepower and a belt sketches me out.

I have a feeling someone is going to quote this post and show some example of an 1100hp dumptruck or tank that uses one. It still sketches me out for the application of a daily driver.

I'd rather have a 4A than a CVT, but that's just me. I've had too many terrible experiences with CVT transmissions that I simply cannot stand anything that has a CVT aside from a hybrid or an EV, the only two places a CVT makes sense in my opinion.

The WRX is becoming the Ford Mustang of interiors. Same cheap and boring interior with different generations. Subaru should be embarrassed on releasing a product with such a half azzed interior. If it was like a 15,000 car, then I'll have no complaints. Just on the interior alone, I'm going to pass on this car.

The interior is actually a notch better than my 11'STI. I like it!

Potential WRX/STi owners dont buy the car for their interiors.

keifun 11-20-2013 02:41 PM

New interior looks way better than my 03 Bugeye WRX. It has come a long way.

^ yes! I bought my WRX not for the interior looks. I had other attributes on my checklist when I was car shopping back then.

No more unequal length header for the new wrx :(

Akinari 12-17-2013 10:21 PM

Is it just me or are the wheels tiny :derp:

UFO 12-18-2013 02:12 PM

the car is just big and tall. They are 17" stock

underscore 12-18-2013 09:57 PM

Currently it looks even more generic than the last one but I'll wait to see what they do for the STi version before I get too worried.

^meh, its no more/less boring than driving any other auto... unless you're the type of auto driver that likes to shift from D to 3 to 2 to 1 to feel like a racer :)

underscore 12-18-2013 10:22 PM

I guess to be fair the CVT I was in was an Altima 3.5 a few years back, so it was pretty boring already. But at least with a regular auto the transmission shifting itself is a slight jolt to keep you awake.

I don't think Rally cars are known for luxury interior...

Bumping dis shet cause I'm looking to buy a '16 WRX next year. For those who own one, what are your thoughts so far? Sat in one (didnt drive) and I would say that I kind of like the interior since it has a handful of soft touch parts such as the dash and using top notch cloth materials as found in the FRS. Currently interested in the sport as it has the amenities that I am looking for such as sunroof/LED boomerang lights/led mirror signals and an easy to navigate center console

Kaolinite 08-27-2015 06:53 PM

I got a 2016 WRX sport last month and I really like it.. the things i dont like is how the trim is painted carbon fiber but the center console is gloss black and how clunky/noisy the shifter is. You should check out NASIOC.

brrrz 08-27-2015 06:57 PM

For someone who has sold many of these things I have to say its one of the best cars in its class. The power is perfect the new nav interface is so easy to use and now they changed those ugly wheels the whole care looks more aggressive. The use of sport sharp really brings the car together and I actually prefer the WRX lip wing better then the STi this gen. Oh and the Auto drives amazing....there, I said it. Every car I have owned has been a manual too

Kaolinite 08-27-2015 07:00 PM

^ I didn't know the WRX has SI-Drive D:

LP700-4 08-27-2015 07:46 PM

^ WRX auto does. I agree CVT drives amazing as much as I love the 6MT.

I drive em on a pretty regular basis at work and its definitely one of the best bangs for your buck. It doesn't have the solid tank/euro type feeling (ie. when closing door) but as a cheapish and fast car it still has a bit of luxury. There are some cheap parts in the interior (glovebox, center console box) that feel flimsy but im sure when you put your foot down that can be forgiven.

I have a 2015 and love it, absolutely a blast to drive. IMO much better than the Lancer Ralliart in terms of response and handling.

For 2016, they have the new touchscreen Infotainment system on all trims. Sport-Tech adds a wider screen and navi so not sure what you meant by easier to navigate center console on the Sport trim. My gf has the 2015 Outback which has the same infotainment system, while it is faster and more responsive, it is kind of glitchy and freezes sometimes.
