| 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo to pack 595 hp, lap Nürburgring in 7:08
I just wanted to give Timpo the warm and fuzzies on a Monday morning
Not sure of the value proposition given the overall ability of the regular models (or better yet a used one), but still good on them for continuing to evolve the car. 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo to pack 595 hp, lap Nürburgring in 7:08 - Autoblog Quote:
With two major auto shows taking place this week on different sides of the globe, the amount of news being posted across the internet is reaching a fever pitch. Naturally, things happen, trigger fingers get itchy and stories get leaked, which is apparently how we came across this spate of premature pictures and information on the eagerly anticipated Nissan GT-R Nismo.
Packing 595 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter V6, the Nismo-fied GT-R should be a serious kick in the pants when run hard. The new power is thanks to a number of donor parts from the GT-R Nismo GT3 racecar, bits that include larger turbochargers, revised intake and exhaust systems and new ignition timing.
Thanks to the engine enhancements, and, we imagine, a few other tweaks to the chassis, brakes and aerodynamics that have yet to be published, the GT-R Nismo is said to blitz the Nürburgring in just 7:08, a mere 11 seconds slower than the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder. For a car that is rumored to cost well under a quarter of the price, that performance is just immense.

Timpo IS the Stig!
Some say that his breath smells of magnesium, and that he’s scared of bells. All we know is he’s called Timpo.

GT-R is a technical wonder, and a chariot of the gods. 9.9/10
however,
it is ugly. I dare say the big butt rear looks cheap. When parked next to a Ferrari it looks completely outclassed.

^I'm tempted to say the aesthetics were almost a by-product of the performance rather than one of the main objectives of its design

The whole front-end and grill looks so unnecessarily busy, then the side profile is just so plain, then the back end has this big black old lady butt, I can almost hear Aunt Jemima going "oh lawdy, sweet jesus" as it passes a turbo 911 effortlessly

I still remember when the R35 came out almost 6 years ago reviews said it likely wont achieve much performance gains unless there's serious modification to aerodynamics...then 2012 model came out breaking the 3 second mark...then AMS Alpha came out with one of the fastest street legal car...cool but not from factory and probably very unreliable...and now this Nismo version just took it to the next level.

no pricing info yet but i wonder how much more nismo version costs over the regular or black edition. Speaking of GTR, is the spec V version even available in north america?

compared it to other cars in its price range, it doesn't look cheap... (e.g. z06, m3/m5, rs5, r8, carrera 4, etc)
people just tend to compare gtr with more exotic cars like ferrari and lambo because it basically smokes all its competitors in its price range

Looks like the 'Ring car is a ringer. Quote:
The 7:08.679 Nurburgring car. The Nismo car you can buy next summer won’t circulate the ‘Ring quite this quickly. The so-called “Time Attack” car displayed in the camouflage has several additional upgrades. The engine is tuned differently with identical 600-hp and 481-lb-ft horsepower and torque peaks, but the curves are slightly fatter. The AWD system’s torque biasing program is tweaked slightly. The aerodynamics package also differs in a couple very meaningful ways that will likely erode that 0.27 Cd claimed for the mainstream model. The rear wing stands quite a bit taller; there’s an aero fence running along the rear edge of the hood, and the front fenders have little aero “whiskers.” Many of these upgrades will likely find their way into the Nismo Track edition (or whatever they call it), though it’s not clear whether the aero fence on the hood could pass pedestrian crash standards or whether the tweaked engine could be made clean enough to be legal.

^So you're saying that the car is still gonna be freakin' amazing.
I love how people keep trying to knock the GTR but end up comparing it to higher and higher models.
"About a week before the GT-R’s time was released, Porsche proudly crowed that its 918 Spyder managed the job in 6:57"
I think the 918 is around $900K?

As an automotive and technology enthusiast, I don't really care about the brand slapped on anything with an engine and not on a rail
if it goes like stink and priced at a fraction of other competitor , it is impressive as hell...
and yes I prefer a proper manual gearbox more than anything ..
