meme405 | 12-07-2013 11:23 PM | @Roach I will say this up top here cause I know a lot of people will not read the stuff below. I saw you for a second with the garbage bag, and I was a little caught up. By the time I got free of what I was doing you had disappeared.
But seeing what you did truly made my day, it was the best part of the entire meet for me. Truly one of those, faith in humanity = restored, moments. I will be getting in contact with you.
For everyone that might not see it in the FB page because of the clusterfuck. Here is my post: Quote:
Wow, okay don't know where to start.
I guess I will start with: HOLY FUCK (pardon my language) WHAT A CRAZY GOOD TIME. THANKS LORENZO, THANKS $$$$$$$$, THANKS N-MOTION, AND THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT CAME OUT AND MADE THIS MEET THE ABSOLUTE BEST I HAVE BEEN TO.
The sheer fact that even the Revscene summer meet did not attract this much attention (and that was in the peak of car season), is a true testament to the positive impact Paul Walker made on all of us.
I was the one selling the decals, I sold about 300-350 of them in like 30 minutes. I knew the demand was there but it exceeded even my expectations.
To those that got one: thanks for coming out, and thanks for donating to a good cause.
To those that didn't get one: I am sorry I did not have enough, but I simply could not get anymore made in time for the meet. If you would still like one send me a message on FB and I will send you the PDF file. It is a vectored PDF, which means you will be able to scale it and it will come out perfect (probably better than the ones at the meet as there were some shortcuts taken to make the timeframe of the meet). Basically any place that does printing (like bang-on, or vinyl places), will be able to make a handful of them for about $20.
With regards to the money raised, it is actually still in a sealed box. I will be taking it to the bank tomorrow (yes, my local BMO has extended hours and days) and they will be cutting open the box and all the money is going to Red Cross. This money is not included in the amount raised by Lorenzo, Josh and the $$$$$$$$ crew. I will update everyone as to the amount raised tomorrow.
The other thing that made me absolutely proud was the behavior of everyone, there were a few bad apples, but overall I was super impressed with the maturity of the crowd. One thing that I saw and unfortunately I was tied up and didn't get a chance to say anything was: an individual, and I know who you are thanks to RS, went into the movie theater got a garbage bag and cleaned up a lot of the trash left behind by everyone else. Props to that guy, cause that was the single biggest thing I saw that brought a smile to my face today, and made me super proud of our car community.
Now as much as I hate to say it I have to touch on the few bad apples, as I hope these individuals continue to come out to events, but hopefully they stop acting like ass hats. I can live with revving, I get it. I have a aftermarket exhaust on my car as well, and I love the sound. What I cannot live with is 5 minutes after Lorenzo said "NO BURNOUTS", there were idiots egging on others to do burnouts out of the lot. First off you spray a ton of rocks all over peoples cars who are near you, which is not cool. Second off you attract a lot of heat, and when there is this many other cars and stuff involved that is also NOT COOL.
*To the guys who I (the Blue FX with license plate "FXED UP") stopped from doing a burnout on Steveston hwy. You gave me a pretty dirty look, and I understand you probably think you are pretty tough, so come on step forward.
Maybe I am in the minority who actually sees this like this, and I recognize that this is my opinion, but I am not going to be and advocate for idiocy and actions that paint the car enthusiast community in a bad light. There is a time and a place for everything and car meets is simply not that place for burnouts or hooliganism.
Anyway this post got a little lengthy so sorry about that, but I would like to end it on a positive note, and that will be:
You guys should be very proud of what you jointly achieved today, and the VPD officers who I talked to at Spanish Banks were very impressed by the actions of the group.
