For me a hyper car needs to have the following: 1. Million dollar plus price tag 2. 700HP or more 3. Able to top 200MPH with ease 4. Sub 3.5sec 0 - 60 5. There needs to be a decent amount made. These one offs and what not that pop up as a result of some guy(s) with a lot of money made something outrageous looking in his shed are not hyper cars. IMO I consider them a boutique car. Those are the first few things that come to mind when I think about what classifies a car as a "hyper car" IMO. |

brb breaking my fail button on all of timpo's post :troll: |
ok so back to the original question, is Murcielago a hypercar? |
^No it is not. As someone mentioned, hyper car should be the flagship of a car's company (probably in limited production) or cars that everyone's been discussing and anticipating about for a long time. In your case Lamborghini Veneno is the hypercar. Other hypercars: Pagani Huayra Porsche 918 Mclaren P1 Ferrari Laferrari |
that being said, could the lp 670-4 sv be considered a hypercar? |
670-4 SV was just a tuned up standard Murc. It was more of just a late model package update. It wasnt designed and built from the beginning to be in the short list of maximum performing cars out there, it was just Lambo tuning up the motor, cutting some weight, and throwing in some options (big brake kit etc) on their standard Supercar. It was still only $400k Hyper car should be reserved for the one single purpose built car that from the initial design stage is ment to be in that short list of 5 or 10 elite cars. The Veneno, I would say is more of a showpiece car. Like the Revention, and One77 |
I actually wanted to add both lp670-sv and reventon onto the list of hyper car, but I didn't. Reventon might be a hypercar due its rarity, but it's really a murcielago underneath. Also forgot to add koenigsegg agera r to the list. I think nowadays a hypercar is defined as having all carbon fiber body, extremely low weight, or modern technology. |
some people call ZR-1, Viper and GT-R supercars already which is kind of true if you look at the performance NSX was often referred as a "Japanese Supercar" |
wait a sec...Countach was a supercar, Diablo was a supercar...so how could Mucielago be a hypercar? It doesn't matter if it's a limited edition, I don't remember people calling Countach Walter Walf, Anniversary or Diablo GTR or SE30 Jota "Hypercars" |

None of those are hypercars. Only true Hypercar bares the name Datsun GTR |
^i feel like we might have another timpo in our hands :heckno: |
apparently MP4 12C is a hypercar |
Here, McLaren was revealing their "hypercar" MP12 4C (no, it's not even P1) Rumormill: McLaren Hypercar Revealed during Monaco Grand Prix slideshow :: autoviva.com |
Not sure if trolling or serious. :suspicious: If you actually read the article it says "A rumor is circulating that since McLaren has finally launched the MP4-12C worldwide that it is now ready to debut its yet unnamed F1-successor hypercar." |

3 guys have the same discussion. |
Reading this thread's discussion is like listening to Bill O'Reilly - highly entertaining despite being completely pointless. In other words, this is where Timpo thrives. |
I still don't think there is such thing as hypercar |
