ROGERS vs FIDO STANDARD PLANS

OK, so FIDO has unveiled a nice looking standard 'bring your own unlocked phone' plan:

$54
Unlimited calling
Unlimited pic/txt/vid messaging
2gb data
voicemail 3 (3msgs)
Unlimited Canada Wide

So I called ROGERS, they claim that these 'FIDO STANDARD' plans are not
to be used with iPhones. only the 'FIDO MAX' plans. that doesn't make any sense.

So... it gets better..

I look on ROGERS site to see what they have for us 'unlocked byod' people...and they show a plan :

$55
Unlimited Canada wide
Voicemail 3
Unlimited pic/txt/vid messaging
1gig Data

So I inquire on the above and the girl says "oh, that's a mistake.. it should be $60 but we will try and get you on it anyways"... WTF.

so question is, can FIDO STANDARD PLANS be used for an iPhone 5-unlocked/no contract.

As long as yoru bring yoru own device you cna be put on any plan. The Max plan is only when you are on a contract.

I believe the data speed on fido is slower then on rogers... at least with my friends phone it was.. the LTE on his iphone was in the 20mbps and HSPA was around 8-10mbps..

Fido LTE on my note 3 gets around 30 mbps avg, I usually just stick with 3g though.
And yeah you can definitely use a standard plan on iphone, no contract too just need 30 days notice to cancel.
I think the Fido double data/minutes promotion is going for a few more weeks so I'd get in on it soon. I wanted to change my dad's line but apparently it's still under contract
