Just an update. For anyone looking to preorder games from E3, id highly recommend going through Wal-Mart. Almost all games are "sold out" at Best Buy. However, Wal-Mart actually updated me each day and would honour the E3 deal.

their known to cancel the orders or take at least a week after release date, where bestbuy might be same day or close to release date
I'm iffy about getting the Pathfinder game. It looks promising but reviews say the game is like a D&D game with a very unforgiving DM
People seem to either absolutely love it or absolutely loathe it, but with 70-75% positive user reviews (depending on the site), seems like a lot more people love it.
I’ve been playing D&D 3.5/Pathfinder for like 15 years now and DMed a Kingmaker campaign, so I feel like I should be okay. The turn-based mod is nearing full release to make it play more like the tabletop game.
Been playing this for about 10 hours now, lots of fun thanks for the recommendtion
the only gripe i have with these games is most characters are seemingly "hybrid" type classes, I'm playing the necromancer type character but im essentially still a tank with magic abilities based on my gear
or maybe i just always end up playing the same class, or my choices lead me into similar classes lol

I heard there are swarms that certain classes can't even defeat because you need AOE attack to kill them.
Melee classes can still hit them with torches (for 1 damage/round, so it takes a while). Vials of acid and alchemist’s fire aren’t too expensive and can be used by any class. Obviously, an AoE elemental spell is the best option (+50% damage).
I think the biggest issue with swarms is the real-time with pause gameplay engine, which makes AoE and splash attacks a double-edged sword as the swarm is on your party member, so he/she is taking friendly fire plus the swarm damage. With turn-based (mod), you can delay your turn until your party member gets away from the swarm and then hit it with the AoE.
I’m starting anew using the turn-based mod and will purchase a custom party after the first scene (500 gp per party member if you stay at level 1) as
Spoiler!
many of the companions you get are terrible (e.g. a cleric who loses his cleric powers if he wears armor ... like fuck right off. Or a wizard/rogue multiclass with 8 CON).
Regarding difficulty/unforgiving DM,
Spoiler!
You start on your own, quickly gain a bard and a sorcerer as companions, but if you created a ranged/spellcaster lead character, getting through the first scene is brutal as everything any party member does until you pick up a melee companion provokes attacks of opportunity.
Once you leave the initial location and set off into the wilderness to the trading post, you’ll have access to a merchant (arms, armor, and wondrous items) and an alchemist (alchemical weapons and potions), but it’ll take a bit before you have access to a cleric (rods, wands, and scrolls). I’ve yet to see a wand of cure light wounds available (15 gp/heal), scrolls are 25 gp/heal, and potions are 50 gp/heal, so you’re starting out with only the most expensive healing option available.
Lots of enemies, even at low levels, are forcing saving throws during combat (fear and poison are the most common I’ve found), so utilizing remove fear and potions of lesser restoration is common (remove fear lasts 10 minutes, so you should only need to cast it once for most areas).
In dungeon crawls, there are way more enemies to slog through than in the tabletop version, so you chew threw a lot more consumables. For example, in The Old Sycamore Tree dungeon, there are dozens of centipedes, spiders, and frogs, all dealing poison damage to STR/DEX/CON. I went in with 10 potions of lesser restoration and it was nowhere near enough.
Flanking rules are different in the video game; you only need another character threatening the target to get flanking bonus/sneak attack regardless of actual positioning. Ranged sneak attack is much more common in this game than the tabletop and it doesn’t appear to require it to be within a 30’ range (which requires snipers goggles, a very expensive magical item, in the tabletop version).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a very captivating game, but even normal difficulty is a challenge if you’re not overprepared.

Process for Costco members (Note: rhutvirani has pointed out an expired costco membership worked, so YMMV.)
This assumes you have no active memberships with Microsoft. If you do, reduce the amount you by accordingly as the maximum is 36 months.
1. From costco.ca buy: (don't forget to use the code AERO3 for Aeroplan Miles)
two 12 Month Xbox Live Gold Membership – Digital download Item #1060292 for $60 each
one 6 Month Xbox Live Gold Membership – Digital download Item #1145546 for $38
2. You will receive codes in your email. Got to https://microsoft.com/redeem and apply one code at a time. Each time it will give you the option of getting 1 bonus month in exchange for setting up auto-renewal - do it all 3 times. This auto renewal will vanish anyway in a few minutes as you migrate. You have now added 12 + 12 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 33 months of Xbox Live Gold to your account.
3. Now go to HERE to subscribe to PC Game Pass for $1 for the first month (additional months are $6/month but that doesn't matter - it'll get cancelled in a few minutes in the migration). You now have 33 months of Xbox Live Gold to your account and 1 month of PC Game Pass on your account.
4. Now go to HERE to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1 for the first month and migrate everything else over to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. You'll now have 35 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
5. Now go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/ and turn off the recurring payments of $17/month just so you don't forget in 35 months time to do it. Note: you do not need to cancel the Xbox Live Gold and PC Game Pass; the migration process in step 3 has closed out those services already. The only recurring payment to stop is the one for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
6. You should see on that page the following:-
"Xbox Game Pass Ultimate"
"Expires on 5/xxx/2022" (IE May 2022 - 35 months from now)
"Turn on recurring billing" as a clickable link; which indicates it's not on
Total cost before tax: $60+$60+$38+$1+$1 = $160
Total months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate received = 12+12+6+3+1+1 = 35 months (the maximum you're allowed under this migration deal is 36 months)
Cost per month: $160/35 months = $4.57/month
---Setlist
quite the investment if you're gonna be playing long term.
long as they keep having pc version it will work quite well or hardcore Xbox players.
me personally i don't know what to think,i need to have the physical copy in my hands to know i own something, but Microsoft is genius for having early releases if you pay a little more for it.
PC Only then about $6/mo over the 3 years = $216 saved
and Ultimate would be $12/mo over the 3 years = $432 saved
I don't even have an Xbox but there are a few games that I do want to play that are included in the PC Game Pass subscription like Gears5 which makes this worth it in the long run.
Definitely worth it if you already have an Xbox though
