So I got gaven 4 of these passes for our trip to Europe in May:

So going to Paris we stop in Toronto and on the way back Montreal. The blurb in the middle there about international departure zones, so basically we will not be able to use these in Toronto when we are going Toronto - Paris because we will be in international departures?

You can use the lounge in YVR and YUL. That's it.

Oh man, the MLL Lounge in YYZ is pretty nice!

Do not use the pass at the lounge in LAX. It is fucking garbage.

That's too bad because the intl MLL in YYZ is pretty nice. With that said, just eat and drink lots in the Vancouver lounge and enjoy your trip!

can you pay to get into the international MLL? or is it basically invite only and if it's invite only, is there a similar guest pass for international MLL's?

You can pay but I think it's like $40 or something absurd like that. I think you can buy the pass by logging into your online reservation on Air Canada's site.

Check out Flyertalk if any traveller flying the same date can bring you in.

With so many options to get into MLL for free, paying to get in is a huge waste IMO unless you have a very long layover and you don't want to leave the airport.

Worst thing worse, you can get plenty of food/drink at YYZ and price is pretty much at the same level outside the airport. Food at MLL is passable at best. I have Star Alliance Gold/(usually)J/F ticket and the only times I ever go into MLL@YYZ is for bottle water or shower if I'm catching a redeye after work (no time to go home).

I have a Amex card and I get access to premium lounges which are pretty decent and you also get access to the Amexlounge at YYZ and the centurion (black card) lounges like the one at LAS if you have the platinum or centurion card. I believe the AC Amex gets you access to the MLL. Only thing is the annual fee is a killer but if you travel a lot than it's worth the fee.

My CX Amex (only avail in Hong Kong) gets you free access to all the premium plaza lounges. It's great... but I'm never in the secure area more than an hour before the flight...

Your CX Elite Amex Card get you unlimited access to Plaza Premium lounges. Not the regular green one.

Not sure why you're even using this card? The only major advantage of this card is the bonus miles earned from purchasing CX tickets on cx.com Which - you barely even need to pay for any revenue tickets.

The card itself is like $2000 hkd annual fee...and only waived if you're MPO Silver or above.

Well I just booked YVR - SEA - HKG for 2 weeks in Septmember for $650CAD taxes in. DL Y class.

Never in my life have I seen it this cheap, not even when Oasis Airlines was still around.

Vancouver to Hong Kong | $649 roundtrip including taxes | cheapest ever?
Which dates did you book? I was looking at the Sept 10th, and that 7 hour layover is killer.

Depart Sep 1, return Sep 14.

There are two options. Depart YVR at 630am or 1130am. Both connect to the 2pm HKG flight at the same price.

At that price, the layover is worth it. Find a lounge, take a nap.

IMO
If your fare is that 50% tango miles then save the $200
If it's 100% miles, keep it.

Also depends how frequent of a flier you are.

Say about 13 000 miles? The actual cost difference is $266.

I fly within Canada once per month, but I'm usually in the lowest fare class. I earn about 20 000 miles per year on average.

EDIT: I should say only about half of that is recognized by Air Canada for status unfortunately.

^hmm is your 20k average including this flight?

If this flight can give you a total of 25k miles, thus bumping you to prestige I say pay for it

I'm going from YVR to Hong Kong in a few days, I don't have any special credit cards. Are there any free or reasonably priced lounge I can go to?
