I've booked myself ANA J class from HKG to HND this fall. It won't be the full international J class experience, but still looking forward to my first time on NH.
Also looking forward to my first time on a 787 by way of a couple domestic ANA segments within Japan.
Nice, have fun! The 787 service with ANA is supposed to be quite nice. I actually have an F segment booked with ANA for October, Paris-Tokyo, I am pretty excited about (although it's their older F product unfortunately). Take some pictures man.

I had nothing but good experiences with ANA. You won't be disappointed. I have never been on their 787, but I would love to in the future. Like lowside mentioned, take some pictures!
i will be going to YYZ on a business trip. my flight ticket, paid by company, includes round trip of economy trip.
do you all think it would worth it to upgrade to business for the YVR to YYZ trip?
Though I have never been on business nor first class, I have always thought any premium class is more worth it when it's on long haul trips. The longer duration lets you enjoy and get more out of the trip. I'm not sure how much you will need to add to make the upgrade, but in my opinion, if it is just a business trip, and the company is providing you with economy, just stick to it and save the money for future vacations.

When you check-in online, AC will give you a option to upgrade to either business class or eco+ depending on what flight you're taking and what the passenger load is. The usually upgrade fee for one way from economy to business is around $400 and imo it's not worth it for a 4 hour flight especially if you get stuck flying on the A320/321 or the E190.
Flew on the newly upgraded AC 777 from CDG to Montreal, great experience we had the bulk head seats right behind the premium economy and IMO those are far better than the premium economy as you have far more room and the personal fold up monitor is much better than the back of the seat one IMO
The new system is pretty nice, enjoyed it a lot

for those who uses scotiabank gold amex travel credit card, and those who like to purchases booze:
any purchases at the Liquor Depot will count as grocery, therefore, if you spend $100 there, you will get 400 points.
i used the card on the new Cambie Road Liquor Store, nope, it doesn't give me the x4 bonus.
i just used my AmEx gold at Kal Tire. i am hoping Kal Tire would give me x4 bonus (because the AmEx might mistakenly classify Kal Tire purchase is "gas purchase")
any of you cardholders know which places offer x4 bonus?

Nice. I'll be flying the same plane to Paris end of August in J. Can't wait to try out the new J seats.
It's funny, that is the 777HD that if you listen to flyer talk, is absolutely torture in Y, Y+, or J... I didn't mind it, you obviously didn't mind it, such a bunch of whiners!

^^^I've flown the 777HD in Y Aisle seat when I traveled back from YYZ. Posted pix awhile back.
I'm pretty laid back and not one to complain much. Only thing I didn't like was it seemed to be less leg room because something was occupying the space under the seat in front of me. And the placement of the buttons on the arm rest was stupid as well. I hit something everytime I laid my arm on it.
I didn't find the new seats better or worse. I liked the fact they were newer and felt cleaner and bit more firmer than the old plushy seats.
Nothing to write home about except a minor surprise. But plenty of legroom nonetheless and sleeping on an angle didn't really bother me as I was able to get 5hr+ sleep each way.
The surprise came from the 2-3-2 configuration as opposed to the new 1-2-1 that AA is adapting. I traveled with my 18mth old (as lap child) and wife. The attendant at check-in was nice enough to seat us at both aisle seats of the middle section, giving us a free seat so we could actually let our kid sleeping on his own seat rather than sharing our seat. As AA's retiring this configuration and none of the modern J have x-3-x configuration, seating together as a family of 3 in J would no longer be possible. (except maybe the 2-4-2 config from United)
