Ah okay, thanks for the information!

Would I be able to switch it to a business flight from YVR to YYC since my whole itinerary is on a F aeroplan fare? (i.e. Switch YQF to YYC on Y -> YVR to YYC on J)

I will probably call in to change it and pay the small fee, but just wanted to see if you or anyone here knew the answer before I wait like 99 years on hold... :concentrate:

roastpuff 07-25-2015 08:27 PM

As long as there is space you can switch it.

All set for trip to CDG.

Doing YVR-LAX in DL first (meeting wife there), LAX-PHL-CDG in US Airways Envoy and then CDG-JFK-LAX in AA 767+A321

Ya, BA's the best bet I could think of.

CZ was (and is) increasing their seats for the summer season, but at the end decided for 2 X 787's instead of sending their (spare) 380 in.

Actually for BA to replace two 744 with one 380, would actually be a reduce of seats too.

Well, it's official! BA A380 to YVR.

Interesting to see BA86/87 is now removed as of an hour or so ago.
Both (388+772) was still scheduled as of late last night.

Which gate at YVR is A380 capable?

Wonder if QF is coming too with an A380 since they freed up LAX-SYD to AA

Isn't it those two gates at the very end of Int'l? They been completed for a few years.

So I was checking BA and off-peak May flights YVR-LHR is pretty reasonable in Y.
Only 16250Avios one way but $215 extortionist YQ.

But don't look for J unless you have AA miles :O

AA miles won't help with YQ either... BA YQ is horrendous.

noclue 07-30-2015 09:23 PM

Yes but at least the amount of miles required is much less than avios!

Just booked a seat on the inaugural in World Traveller Plus. Will I be seeing any Revsceners at the gate?

edit: Aircraft now enroute back to HK as CX3335.

Lol, just volunteered for next flight at YYC. Sure Air Canada, I'll take my $800, free hotel, free dinner, and free breakfast :)

I also got this AC overnight kit, not a bad kit...

Anyone ever use these travel vouchers before? Easy to use or a complete pain?

bcrdukes 08-09-2015 01:59 PM

I've used an eMCO before.

Some stipulations in case you did not read the brochure properly:

1. The voucher only covers the base fare.
2. You're on the hook for the difference of the flight and all taxes.

There are several ways to use the eMCO. The best and fastest way is to call in to reservations or visiting the ticket sales desk at your nearest airport.

There are other ways to use the eMCO, but not very convenient. The worst is - You can't use it for bookings on AirCanada.com.

Sometimes, free has its catches. If you travel often and know you will go somewhere, they're great. But for non-frequent fliers, it's a pain. You could have opted for cash instead at the time of volunteering (but you knew that already.) :hotbaby:

I personally recommend using the eMCO towards a Flex, Latitude, or Business Class flight if you're into collecting qualifying miles. In the end, AC has the last laugh. Good luck on the voucher and use it wisely.

bcrdukes is going to HK and Macau :troll:

bcrdukes 08-09-2015 02:31 PM

Yeah, FML. Fucking 777HD. I should have ponied up the extra cash and use my eUpgrade certs.

P.S. - Almost @ 50K Elite! :hotbaby:

Eff-1 08-10-2015 11:04 AM

Not sure how easy it would be to upgrade AC007 (my guess is it wouldn't be).

The 777HD isn't TOOO bad. I've flown it on a full flight YVR - YYZ (although I was sitting in PY, I did scope out the Y seats pretty good). I think you'll be fine, the guys on FT often like to make things sound worse than they are because the DYKWIA attitude runs rampant over there with a lot of the guys who responded to you.

Honestly my best advice to you is pick an aisle seat and pick one as far forward as possible so you can deplane earlier. Remember, you got a great deal on the ticket and during the flight you can keep asking yourself is a CX fare is worth double what you paid.

bcrdukes 08-10-2015 11:56 AM

That is true.

You probably saw my post on FT but I have been on the 77W from YVR/YYZ and it isn't so bad, but I'm not sure if I can endure a 13 hour flight to HKG.

And yes, the fare I paid was awesome. :D

Just spend 7 hours in the galley chatting up with those grannies. Time should go by fast :D

Eff-1 08-10-2015 01:09 PM

You could also pay the $120 each way and upgrade to a preferred seat if you are concerned. Your "cheap" fare will now be an "average" fare but at least you can enjoy the extra space!
