Flew them on their 777-300ER service out of SFO last year, was an amazing product. Check back a page or two for some thoughts on it.

Out of YVR, CI will now fly their A350 product starting today actually. Their new cabins are great in all classes.

Upgraded myself on AA 788 in J for my coming flight to PEK.

Wasn't planning to do so as I was saving AA miles for award travel, but the almost 14hrs flight from DFW-PEK seemed reasonable for 25k+350 copay.

What's interesting is that I was going to ask a buddy to use his SWU to sponsor my upgrade, but there wasn't space available as it would waitlist. But when I called in to inquire about miles upgrade, the agent was able to set me up instantly.

The minimum 'bid' will not be worth it. You can just forget about it now.

Is alright. Just expect people to take off their shoes and have garbage all over the floors. Oh and if they try to put their foot on your arm rest just poke with a fork.

Try to get int he plane ASAP if you have carry ons coz a lot of people will have like 2 or more bags with them for carry on and if you aren't fast enough you will have no room for your bag.

Is it possible to upgrade using Avion points but pay for the flight with cash? or on the card etc.?

Flights im looking at i can buy directly from KLM for $300 cheaper than spending $2400 and 56,000 points..

Anyone flown JAL to Tokyo on a 787-8 recently? Seatguru says economy seats are only 17" but the config is 2-4-2 rather than 3-3-3 so it should be 18.5" unless they're going with really wide aisles.

I flew from YVR-NRT last feb. on JAL. the 787-8 is 3-4-3. seats in economy are still pretty comfortable. decent space.

Looks like they've changed up their planes then - I booked my flight last night and it was a 2-4-2 setup.

JAL used to be 3-3-3 (no 3-4-3 possible with 787, it's not wide enough). Have switched to 2-4-2 on the 787.

JAL has very spacious seats (SKY WIDER II - see link here: JAL SKY WIDER Ⅱ (Seats) - JAL International Flights)

Also very excellent service and food is great even in economy.

I like flying with Japanese airlines. My dad will opt for JAL or ANA when he travels back to Asia every couple of months even though the price difference between them and AC/CX etc may be a bit more.

It's a 1-2 layout. See if you can get one of the single seats.

Not bad planes, but low headroom and small bins.

So heading to Dubai/Abu Dhabi, Milan, Istanbul, Athens, Bologna and Geneva for the auto show in 2 weeks but best part is doing my first trip on EK F via LAX-DXB-MXP and back. Also doing some interEU flights in J on Turkish and AF.

I did it a while back on the reverse (AMS-NYC)... nothing to write home about.

2-2-2 config with a tiny cabby for feet. Food was alright and service was above NA carriers say AC/UA/DL... but fell short of Asian carriers or even their european buddy LX.
