Didn't they swap you to another seat? Last time it happened to me, I got op-up'd to first (J was full) along with the sorry pack, which I exchanged for 10% off int'l flight.

On a separate topic, with so many frequent flyers here, we should start an "air stewardess" thread...

But don't expect much contribution from me, I fly mostly AC/UA and all I see are grandmas... :fuckthatshit:

Yeah, did you mention to the stewardess? They will usually try their best to fix it or re-seat you. But you probably didn't want to go because of your hot seat-mate... :concentrate:

AC Jazz actually has some fairly attractive young stewardesses, I see them on YVR-YXS or the reverse.

Air Asia :fullofwin:

Sadly I don't do much (if any) on AC Jazz... mostly long-haul flights and I swear to god it's like they have a policy of only 50+ crew allowed. :rukidding:

AC mainline is the worst, we are not joking when we say the average age is 50. However, AC Rouge I have flown twice now and both times had a great selection of hot younger women...

Yes! I flew them SIN-DPS last year and they had hot stewardesses... And those red uniforms, they're nice and form-fitting.

+1, YVR-YYZ is notorious for the cranky 50+ year olds.

heading back over to bangkok in a couple weeks and we're trying to figure out the best of the cheapest....ie china air, air china, EVA, Philippines air etc etc

don't want garbage service but we will be back of the bus

we flew over cathay last time and it was great but that was on points and they're all gone now

Don't want garbage service? Stay away from mainland China airlines. China Eastern was okay, China Southern was utterly horrible. Air China - never flew that but if you don't speak Mandarin service will probably be sub-par. Philippines Airlines has Manila as the transit point which is a PITA to go through, very confusing.

EVA is good, never flew China Airlines so can't comment on that but they should be fine too.

You left your booking really late if you're flying in a couple of weeks, unless this is a last-minute trip. When are you flying?

JAL has some deals flying around the end of April, I love them in Economy. Great service, decent food and you get to fly on the 787! ANA is pretty close on price too, another great airline. If you can, fly with them. Narita is a terrific airport too, love the ramen shops and the Kit Kat selection there.

So... MHC? Or at least contact info? :concentrate:

lowside67 03-31-2014 08:47 AM

Eva definitely gets high marks, I have flown with them before, TPAC in economy sucks no matter how you slice it but I found them to work very hard to make your time pleasant.

Anyone have much experience with Charles degaule? CDG?

Me and my GF will be flying in to Paris from Pearson landing at 815, we then have to catch the 1215 TGV out of the airport station to the south of France

Anyone have experience with the train station within the terminal? Hard to find, etc?

lowside67 03-31-2014 09:21 AM

I havent been there personally but I know CDG has a reputation of being a bit of an unpleasant airport to connect through. With that said, pretty much every European city integrates rail so heavily that I can't see it being that hard to find your way to the train station. Hopefully customs doesn't take too long, but I don't think you should have a problem. When will you be there? I will be taking the train to the south of France in September to meet some friends on the tail end of my summer trip.

Cheers

Hondaracer 03-31-2014 09:29 AM

May 9th were heading over

Air Canada from YVR to Pearson then AC777 from Pearson to CDG

We were going to do an easy jet or Ryan air etc from Paris to Nice but the schedules are so erratic that it was quicker to take the TGV at noon

For your TGV trip make sure you book with captainetrain, it's a great site for booking

lowside67 03-31-2014 09:42 AM

Yeah, I actually really prefer the trains in Europe - the distances are so close that the train is a nice relaxed option - no security, nonsense, etc. I am going to be taking the train from Frankfurt to Aix en Provence and then back to Paris where I hop on a plane again.

Anyone redeeming flights on AC using AP? I have a bunch of lounge passes that only work for those flights and since I'll never redeem for AC, they're useless to me. Free to whoever wants them.

Hondaracer 03-31-2014 06:23 PM

AP?

When do they expire? I would be interested :)

Feb 2015

v_tec 03-31-2014 09:35 PM

That would be awesome :)

How many do you have? Where do you get them from?
I thought they usually only come with Altitude renewals?

Euro7r 03-31-2014 10:07 PM

Which is the best airline to fly to Australia from Vancouver? I don't think there's many direct flight airlines?

They also come with CIBC or TD Visa cards. They're annoying to use since they have to be used with Air Canada Aeroplan redemptions only.

The only direct flights are with Air Canada. I don't think Qantas does them anymore. Air New Zealand flies to Auckland direct too I think.

G 04-01-2014 08:32 AM

Are the lounge passes different? The one's that I have received in the past did not specify that they must be Aeroplan redemption ticket's but just need to be an AC flight... How do they even check if your flight is booked from Aeroplan with just the boarding pass?

Hondaracer 04-01-2014 09:10 AM

I booked my AC flights through avion

If those passes will work for me I'll grab one if possible?

I'm not sure, but it specifically states only valid with Aeroplan reward ticket. So maybe booking class? People have reported slipping through on regular tickets before.

Avion is not the same as Aeroplan. Avion books as a regular flight, not sure if it will work or not.
