The one's I get usually look like this:

http://www.usedpei.com/photos/01/06/36826106_614.jpg

Did they recently change it? I still haven't received my 2014 ones yet...

DaFonz 04-01-2014 10:01 AM

The ones I have are the ones that came from CIBC and TD. They're basically useless to me because I never book AC on AP.

Again, these only work if you book AC on AP.

roastpuff 04-01-2014 10:01 AM

Those are the Altitude passes, I was referring to the ones from the credit cards (CIBC/TD). Which is what DaFonz and I have.

AC AP rewards only.

G 04-01-2014 10:31 AM

Ah ic ic, I got the altitude passes with the old CIBC aeroplan credit cards, I guess they changed it to a whole new system with the new CC's..

I uploaded a photo of my pass.

You can see it says "Aeroplan Flight Reward" on it, and it instructs the agent to check that it is an Aeroplan Flight Reward ticket before letting the person in.

Just thought I would share this with anyone who hasn't seen it yet: ACT FAST: Sub-$1,500 Business Class Fares To Europe This Summer - One Mile at a Time

GREAT AMAZING PRICES out of Seattle to Europe this summer. ~$1600CAD ROUND-TRIP fares to Italy, a bit more elsewhere. Fly from Jun 27-Aug 30, must include one Saturday on the trip.

Hehe 04-01-2014 08:45 PM

Just booked my flight to see my folks.

3400 tax-in for 2*JFK-EZE in AA J. Old J seats, but considering it's the price and being a direct flight... it's an amazing deal. And I can live with angled flat seats.

Will post a trip report when I come back. :)

Awesome! Just so you know if you're checking luggage you can't leave in Vancouver, as it's a transit and not a stopover.

Harvey Specter 04-03-2014 11:05 PM

I believe you can ask to get off in Vancouver. I did a flight from SEA to LHR a couple years ago, it cost something like $400 and return flight was LHR - YVR - SEA. When I checked in at LHR I told them I didn't want to continue to Seattle and they allowed it. I'll call AC and see what they say.

lowside67 04-04-2014 05:38 AM

Do not call air canada!! All you do is tell them in CDG that you would like to short check your bags to Vancouver. Be aware the airlines are not happy when people stop on the way back but it won't be a big deal if you only do it once. Definitely don't call air canada in advance though.

+1.

I have done it many times with my work flights. It has something to do with the airline's planning and the price they offer. So we often skip the last leg that brings us to some very weird places hundreds of miles away. AC/UA are usually not happy with it, but the agent that my company work with always does this to offer the best price possible.

At CDG, just tell them you only want your bags checked until YVR (the tag will show as such) and you are good to go.

Harvey Specter 04-04-2014 02:22 PM

You guys are correct, airlines don't like it and I believe the term they use for skipping a leg is hidden city ticketing. You shouldn't skip a flight on the first leg because depending on the airline they can cancel your return leg. In past I've either flown with carry on luggage only so they can't do much or I've asked to have the baggage checked to YVR without any issues.

Yeah... airlines hate it. If you are booking on a personal level, I'd say just do it once a while.

Corporate is whole other animal. Too much stuff going behind the doors.

Gh0stRider 04-04-2014 10:00 PM

yikes

Some landing and take-off highlights in awkward wind conditions at BHX this winter (a record winter for stormy conditions in the UK).

Crosswind difficulties - winter 2013/14 - YouTube

I'd imagine my buttcrack would be sweating buckets if I had to land a plane in those crosswinds. :heckno:

Planes drifting :fullofwin:

Props to all pilots out there. Definitely not an easy job.

JesseBlue 04-13-2014 01:19 PM

I sat in 1K two days ago on a CX747-400
1K is awesome, its so quiet, so private, so great.
It really is the best of the first classes

Can't give anything on service though

roastpuff 04-17-2014 08:07 AM

Awesome, I'm looking forward to sitting in 1K when I do my trip. :D

How'd you get to sit there anyways, don't you have your own area in the baggage hold? :troll:

But yeah I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
