Swfk, can you at least transfer the compressor, lines, and electronics over? Or is ICBC gonna keep the car as is?

Dude, you already asked me LOL. I know you want to bag your FX and want my used management, as I said before it is part of the suspension and I cannot remove it from the vehicle.

I guess people don't realize if you deal with ICBC and your car is a write off you have to replace anything you remove with stock parts or equivalent. ( I don't think they care much about car audio, only mechanical parts).

Wouldn't be very fun bringing a jack, a bunch of stands and a shit load of tools to the salvage yard and doing all that work (if they even let you?)

Not worth.

Hopefully you had all receipts? Did they honor the costs associated?

swfk 09-19-2014 08:21 PM

I had a folder of scanned receipts ready to email but they looked at it this way,

OEM wheels are $3000 from the dealer, by putting on $2000 wheels, I've just devalued the car by $1000.

Same case with the bags. They said I am welcome to replace it with OEM parts under one condition. The vehicle must be towed to a shop by owners expense and towed again to return to the yard. At the yard, nothing attached to the vehicle could be removed.

I managed to swap my tails and remove the spoiler at the site of the accident before the towtruck arrived thanks to Cho for driving me home to grab stock tails who happened to drive by! He was getting off work and I flagged him down haha

Damn, that sucks. Never knew OEM wheels were worth that much on a Golf. If you want, I know a guy who tows for pretty cheap, PM or FB me if you want his info.

Thanks Dalton I appreciate it! But insurance claim had already been dealt with and I'm already in the new car. Thanks anyways!

So you towed it, stripped the aftermarket parts, and towed it back?

radioman 09-21-2014 12:36 PM

I'd rather my wife wash my car and cover it with swirl marks, as I'm just going to do that anyways.
