The FX looks great. I can dig it. Unique chassis to modify. Dare to be different. That's why were here.

Hey Meme, how much did the wrap cost you?? And how is it to maintain and such?? Just curious.

Wrap ranges in price from 3k-5k depending on what you want to do. The bigger the car, the more it costs, the more detail work you want to do the more it costs. So basically an average sedan will start around $3500, and go up from there.

I have addressed maintenance a handful of times on the boards. the gist of it is this: Depending on the wrap maintenance can vary wildly, if you get a gloss wrap, you actually have to wax it, so its not much different from paint.

My matte wrap is dead simple in comparison to paint, or gloss wraps. There is zero need, for any type of wax or polishing. So cleaning the car is just a quick wash with a gentle car shampoo (that is wax free), and a towel dry. If the car isn't that dirty, you can also just wipe it clean with a microfibre and some denatured alcohol.

The only thing about the matte wrap is that you need to be careful with it, using the wrong products on it can create marks which only re-wrapping the panel will correct. Also there is no way to polish out imperfections like you can with paint, so if you leave something like bird droppings on the wrap for extended time, your gonna have problems.

The end result is that even though its much easier and faster to clean the car, I have to do it more often. This wasn't a big deal to me, as I have been in the habit of washing my cars once a week for years. I also park my car in an heated and enclosed parking, so I am limiting the wear on the wrap greatly with that.

The other precaution I took was I actually purchased a lot of extra material, enough that I could probably re-wrap a large portion of the body panels before I have to re-buy material. I did this because just like how no two paint mixes are the same, no two rolls of vinyl are exactly identical. So in 2 years time, I will still be able to wrap one panel of my car and in theory it will match the other panels exactly, and everything will look brand new again.

im really impressed with my pilot super sports right now, i basically aim for those puddles (if theres no pedestrians around)

dared3vil0 10-23-2014 11:46 AM

LOL it's well over 6" deep in spots, i'm concerned with hydrolocking my motor, not hydroplaning.

Though what a fantastic excuse to swap a roadrunner in... :considered:

lol i just got the truck back this morning but so far, they seem alright on road. cant tell if theres any road noise because i've got a muffler and listen to my music kind of loud. they are a lot stiffer then my stock tires but that was expected. going to dick around with it offroad tomorrow and sunday, may end up somewhere far away to take some really nice pictures.
