Gotta agree with you there. FX35 and TL projectors have a super sharp cutoff.

That's the problem with Domestic projectors/HID's, they're bright but they just kind of spam light everywhere.

^That's just light output, a cutoff from projectors is this:

The better the projector, the sharper the line between light and no light. That said, I also heard S2000 projectors have a good cutoff too, and they're being used for retrofits as well.

s2000 is single beam but wide and sharp

fx and tl is generally used for bi-xenon setup for clarity, however a lot of people using morimoto mini h1 or d2s now as they are easy to install and still give a great cut off.

:accepted: I will have to find a place to test cutoff... I thought the words were interchangeable. My bad.

The difference in projectors also account for how bright the overall light output is, as well as hotspots and how wide/far they shoot. S2k has the widest output if I'm not mistaken (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It shoots out super wide but not as far as some of the other projectors, iirc it covers like 6 lanes of traffic or something lol. I'd love to have those projectors.

If you want to change how sharp the cutoff is I highly suggest changing the lens :) Easy few screws to swap them on/off if you have the headlight apart, and makes a world of a difference. These STI-R clear project lenses were ~$60 iirc, and it sharpened my cut off a loooot. Top being stock, bottom being after the lens swap. Same bulbs and ballasts and evertyhing on the projectors from my 370z. Bulbs apparently make a slight difference in cutoff too

ECE cutoff > DOT cutoff.

Good clarity lenses make a large difference in a sharp cut-off and also will generate that blue tinge you see most commonly in high end cars (think mercedes or the likes). This is where replacement lenses from TRS come in (like the common TSX-R lens swaps or FX-R lens swaps).

The bulb impacts beam width, pattern and cutoff.

Cheap bulb with most likely a shitty pattern, spread and cutoff:

http://www.e92-lighting.com/images/p...10k%20blue.jpg

Quality bulb (arguably the most expensive and highest quality bulb available, Osram CBI, this is the factory bulb in most high end German cars):

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4992/photo7rr.jpg

The most apparent difference between the two bulbs above is the metal stabilizers on the quality bulb instead of just a straight plastic base. This setup allows for a wider spread.

My current headlights on my FX have had the FX-R lens swap, and while the headlights were open, the shrouds/lenses were adjusted and bent to make the optimum cutoff and maximize the refraction of light at the cutoff (Purple/blue tinge at cutoff, this means that when you see my car bouncing down the road over bumps it fades from a really crazy blue colour to an almost complete white, its a really cool effect).

It is underrated how difficult it is to get a good cutoff, my pattern looks much like the one posted above by kakucaekz. Which is pretty much as good as I have seen on any car.

She's getting there. Still a ways to go. I'm just glad the paint still looks good after 15 years. Needs a detail though...

Take off that stupid looking Dueck logo. I hate dealerships that do that...

Other than that that thing is seriously clean. Comparatively my paint is only 2 years old and completely fucked...

I always keep forgetting. Always focused on the modding parts, leave out the little details, lol.

Car had only one previous owner. Currently at 75,000 orig km. Previous owner would probably cringe at what I'm doing to it :accepted:
