Z06 will have the 7 speed manual. But I wonder how the well the 8 speed is compared to a dual clutch Posted via RS Mobile
Supposedly as fast if not faster shifts than the PDK, but it's not all about shift speed. I was listening to The Smoking Tire podcast and Carlos Lagos from Motor Trend was talking about how intelligent PDK was and how you could literally leave the car in auto mode and not use the paddles around the track.
so the Z06 is supercharged? What will be the point of the ZR1 then? bigger S/C? And an even wider track? Damn the C6 Z06 barely fit into a lane, this one will be too wide for parking spots lol
I'm with you, they should have kept the Z06 as a NA V8 and then the ZR1 with a blown V8. But honestly, should they even make a ZR1? Obviously, enthusiasts would love it but from a business standpoint that wouldn't make sense to cannibalize its market.

Considering the number of ZR1's I see to the number of Z06s, I don't think the ZR1 introduces any sort of cannibalization

From a C6 perspective; I've heard enthusiasts say that they would prefer to buy the 7.0L Z06 and add F/I afterwards rather than coughing up the extra $$$ for the 6.2L S/C ZR1. Valid argument I suppose.
Well currently it's NA vs blower. The marginal cost likely makes sense to get the ZR1.(I don't know the costs of either but I'm just guessing).
I think the ZR-1 is a 40K premium over the Z06, hence the lack of cannibalization. Regardless of GM's cost to produce the ZR1, I think the price disparity will remain roughly the same, which, I think, would lead to the cannibalization effect being roughly the same (not a whole lot)

I doubt we'll see a ZR1 considering the performance of the Z06 and how closely tied to the race car the Z06 is. What would the positioning of the ZR1 be? "Even more insane than the racecar"? Might as well leave that to the aftermarket guys.
1. Z06 = 7 liters (427 cubic inches) normally aspirated and 505Hp that gets you from Zero to 150mph in 17.3 seconds
ZR1 = 6.2 liters(Can't remember the Cubic inch displacment as its not a historic or memorable displacment) supercharged and 638hp that gets you from Zero to 150mph in 16.4 seconds
*Thats the biggest difference on paper(at least to me)
2. Other most notable difference.
Z06 = Steel rotors + no adjustable suspension
Zr1 = Ceramic rotors + adjustable suspension.
3. Insignificant differences
Z06 = no carbon fiber added appearance treatments and low profile hood.
Zr1 = Carbon fiber added appearance treatments and high profile hood with a see through portal.
*Zr1 costs on average 50k more than Z06 unless you get the Z06 with options 2 and 3 from above which is called z07 package for the zo6 Then the price difference is about 25-30k.
Damn. Anyone care to find out what the treadwear rating is on that tire?
There are two options for tires:
A)Michelin Pilot Sport (Treadwear: Approx 220)
B)Michelin Sport Cup (Treadwear: Approx 80)

On a completely irrelevant side note; I have a clients 1969 Corvette Stingray convertible sitting in my indoor storage waiting for customer pickup. The C3 is my least favorite gen, by far, but it still has a certain nostalgia about it.

"eight-hundredths of a second quicker than those of the dual-clutch transmission offered in the Porsche 911", is what is being said.
check out how large the rear rotor and caliper are! most sports cars i see have massive 14" discs with 6 pots up front, but still dinky single caliper rears or something. this thing has massive brakes all around. its nice to see
