i really dig the premiere. I already like the main cast better than Woody Harrelson esp Colin Farrell. If the showrunners thought Vince Vaughn was gonna hurt the series they won't cast him. He's actually pretty decent, you just know him as a goofball cause he's in a lot of stupid movies....but so was Mcconaughey before landing in so many good roles in recent years.
I don't know about you guys but the plot in season 1 did shit for me and it doesn't look like I care much about this one either. But that's not why I watch the show; I follow it because of the good character development, the setting and the beautiful camera work.
not to mention it's probably only one of the few quality shows in TV right now
If you boiled the main plot down it really isn't much. probably one or two episodes of content.
Detectives follow lead A who brings them to lead B. Detectives shake down lead B who dishes about lead C, etc etc, Yellow King, pedophiles, etc etc. I'd say the draw of the show really does lie in the character development and the secondary stories that surround them.
didn't watch ballers, not interested in another entourage type show...they get old too fast but I've been meaning to check out californication now that it's completed.
oh silly me, how did i talk about what I liked in this show without mentioning daddario's perfect tits

Watched Californication on a whim a few years back. I couldn't stop watching it because Hank Moody is so damn funny. Still need to watch S5+ though since they weren't available on Netflix at the time.
Definitely waiting on a few more episodes before watching TD. It's what I did last year and since it took me a while to get into S1, so I imagine it'll be the same here.
The ending surprised me, but I'm still not sold on the new season. I don't need it to replicate S1, but it feels adrift. I keep telling myself as I'm watching, to give it time and let it develop before making a judgement call but I'm finding it hard to make me a believer that it can be as good or better than S1.
if they werent trying to kill him they wouldnt have shot him in the gut from 3" away. im pretty sure hes dead. i was ready to call it quits until they killed him though, that made the show interesting enough for another chance.
is nobody going to mention the raven head, wtf was that?
I suspect Velcoro was shot with the same gauge as the guy who got his balls blown off. Meant to wound, not kill.
Bird shot
I think you're right about that. I'm pretty sure he ain't dead cause there's still scenes with him from the trailer we still haven't seen yet; I do believe he will be out of commission for at least next episode.
I've stopped comparing this season to season 1 and just accepted it for what it is, but season 2 is arguably not even half as good so far. That opening monologue with Vince Vaughn about punching a rat was so cheesy and pretentious. Also the car ride conversation between Ani and Ray was nowhere near as interesting as the conversations between Marty and Rust; although the line about e-cigs was pretty golden lol "It's a little too close to sucking a robots dick".
It's Justin Lin...there will surely be some ridiculous set piece. Just watch Crazy Cop 1 and Crazy Cop 2 and Crazy Girl Cop drive a car out of a skyscraper window...INTO ANOTHER SKYSCRAPER!
No, tonight's was cool but not even close to the mastery of last year's one shot. That thing was a pure as filmmaking gets. No wasted time. Every bit was essential. That's what I don't like about this season. Just conventional storytelling. Oh, hey look an establishing shot! It all looks like stock footage until one of the stars shows us on screen. I'd expect that on NBC or something but this is HBO! It should feel different.
And seriously, Fat Cop, what were you even doing? That was just embarrassing cop work.
Don't really like the idea of how they're going with the same "flow" of events as last season (one take shot vs. street shootout). Also like in last season, I think there's going to be a jump in time in the next episode. In the preview you Ray's stache is gone and Ani has a different uniform. Only thing holding me on to this season is the possibility of seeing Vince Vaughn's wife's tits.
And Taylor Kitch's story is just lol, he's such a bland character. lol'd hard when he woke up and realized he blacked out and booty-called his operation brokeback mountain friend
-that emo girl who sings at the bar. shit is so depressing - no wonder the place is empty!
-the way vince vaughn speaks - classic example of "over" acting
