Not a huge Hamilton fan, but good to see someone win at home.

yeah and those were the best of the pics i could find too :/

the grid girls for the other events looked better (like F3) which was odd because you would think F1 would grab the best ones

Lotus is switching to Mercedes..

https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/...56481--f1.html

The team is just weird.. Belongs to Genii and have nothing in common with Lotus cars.. I mean at least the road cars can adopt Mercedes engines!

Formula 1 - Lotus agrees Mercedes engine deal
Mercedes has agreed to supply Lotus with Formula 1 engines from 2015 in a move that should help the team's current supplier Renault focus on Red Bull.
By Jonathan Noble 5 July 2014 11:57 AutoSport

Lotus has been in talks with Mercedes for several weeks following a frustrating start to the 2014 campaign.

And although the final details of the contract, and especially the early parting of ways for Lotus and Renault from what was originally a long-term deal, are still being finalised, the switch is understood to be a formality.

While the move is set to leave Renault with only three teams in F1 next year, the French car manufacturer believes such a situation would not be a negative.

In fact, just a week after Red Bull suggested Renault's F1 form had been compromised by it trying to treat all of its customers equally, the loss of Lotus could allow it to be more focused on its main works team.

Renault's head of trackside operation Remi Taffin said: "I think it [working with three teams] makes life easier for Red Bull to go towards what they wish, and there is no downside for anyone.

"The gap between these teams and how they operate, if the big one [Red Bull] is going forward, maybe at a higher rate, I think it will pull the rest up."

Taffin also made it clear that there would be no budget issues even though Renault could lose income from the Lotus deal.

"If it is three teams next year, it will be less of an income from customers, but not at a level that it will prevent us from doing the job we want to do next year or the year after," he said.

"If anything, Renault [car company] would cover this and would even help more than that to help Renault Sport to get back to the top.

"I don't think it will affect a lot our operation."

In the longer term, Renault looks set to be back up to four partner teams anyway, with the potential new outfit Forza Rossa being based around a supply deal from the French car manufacturer.

^^ concerns that no ones watching F1 2014 continue

Hamilton crashed blamed his brakes, even though they clearly worked, team blames Brembo for the front right brakes not working even though they appeared to have...

teams are a lot closely matched without FRIC in place

Saw these two in the Ferrari garage during qualifying looks like they were noticed by more than the film team

Spoiler!

Well, I mean, only if you're a hardcore fan that it's fun to watch. I haven't watched F1 in years, personally. Too many tech aids, too many regulations.

^ yeah that's what Niki Lauda is saying that there are too many rules, regulations, weak engines and racers that lack personality... and i agree :/

Empty track leaves F1 at 'five minutes to 12' - Lauda | News | Motorsport.com

but it seems that viewership is declining at an alarming rate especially in 2014

I was really enjoying the race until the 15th lap, when the commercial came on, at the worst possible moment!!!

Kudos to Hamilton, he had a great race! It was fun to watch Ricciardo make his way up after avoiding Massa as well!

Regarding the declining viewership, I guess when you are expected to toe the company line (i.e. Rosberg & Hamilton), it does make things a little boring. More importantly, this year and the last few years with RBR, you could pretty much predict who would win after qualifying (with RBR, even before quali). Mercedes is pretty much a lock to win the constructors and it looks like one of their drivers will win the championship. It will be interesting to see if the double points for the final race affects the final results (I'm hoping it does)! Looking forward to the return of Honda next year, hopefully they are competitive right away.
