anyone been to GPC? please share your experience.
F1 noob and i'm curious if it's worth it to see just the practice or qualifying round...or should i just get tickets for the actual race on sunday?
General admission vs popular grandstand?
i just happen to be in town that week...wanted to check it out on friday...but sunday grandstand seems better. however it's at the start of the straightaway (22) and i probably won't see a whole lot of passing? maybe i should go with gen admission then go early to get a good spot by the hairpin?

was there in 2012 definitely get the weekend pass. there are lots to do and besides f1, you can watch all the other races held that weekend too. there are events throughout the whole city. the only thing i regret was not walking onto the track after the race because i had to leave right away to catch a flight home. but overall a great trip.

Very difficult to get views of the hairpins and main passing areas with a GA ticket. GA views are largely limited to straightaways and maybe one or two minor corners. You'll be fighting with many other people for a half decent view. GA is ok if you were attending Friday practice just to experience the atmosphere and see/hear the cars zoom by.
I was there in 2012. Go for the full 3 days. I was there at gate opening every morning, and was entertained all 3 days. Lots of stuff to do, lots of walking. Even the support races were fun to watch (of course, I'll watch pretty much anything going full bore around a track). We spent all of Practice 2 just standing along the casino straight fence watching the cars whipping by at 280.
My tickets were for grandstand 12, which gave us access to almost all of the track except for the paddock clubs. My buddies only had grandstand 15 seats, and weren't allowed to even walk over to our area, but we could go to theirs.
We actually ended up watching the race from the grassy area in front of grandstand 11 instead of our seats, better view and more comfortable with a blanket to sprawl out on. Just gotta get there early to claim your spot.
It was made even better when we figured out you could bring your own beer, wine & food to the track. We made a picnic out of it. I think stand 11 & 12 is the best spot of the race, even better than the more expensive 1 & 2.
I want to go back so bad, but not with the V6 engines...
On another note, today's google doodle remembers Senna!
