It does need an inline 6 and I think that BMW and Toyota's recent merger will see it with a inlines 6 turbo from BMW.....Speaking to my boss tomorrow about putting down a deposit for one :P

Heres some random photoshops I came across... looks much better with the beak toned down a bit IMO
I can only dream that this thing is gonna come with a 3.5L or more I6 twin turbo pushing 600bhp and a stout suspension ssystem to put the power down.
How awesome would it be to be able to throw down with the GTR like the good ol' days.
I would definitely get one to park in the garage next to my mk4. Posted via RS Mobile |

Posted via RS Mobile | Probably going to be equipped with a BMW engine, hence the recent agreement with BMW and Toyota on building a sports car. I would expect something like a modded 335i powerplant or a re-wored M4 powerplant in there.

I have a feeling the ft1 will be in concept mode till at least 2016/17 till real thing comes out. Or they match the release time of the NSX production version (2016 Q1/2?)

GT-R has one of the most sophisticated design, so they're all going after GT-R

let me get my flame suit on before i type this next paragraph as im sure to offend some of the GTR fan boys here.
i disagree, the GTR's design is far from sophisticated. it just dosent look like a sleek sexy sports car to me... its a giant breadbox. when i think sophisticated design i look at what GM just did with the z06, or the direction BMW is going with their M cars and what toyota has just unveiled.
the only similarities i see are the glass A pillar and the roof line but just slightly. other than that they look nothing like each other from the side.
ive never been a fan of the GTR's look, ive always thought the gtr looks like a giant cat fish, no sexy curves, straight lines, it bores me personally. ft1 blows it out of the water from the side view... not fan of the ft1's gigantic beak but hopefully they can sort that out if and when it makes it to production.
all thats left is for toyota to deal with the beak and give the car some balls with a manual transmission and id take it over a GTR all day every day. GTR = mind blowing performance, no doubt, but give me a car with some soul and sex appeal over a GTR any day, just my personal preference. i hate fan boys who quote nurburgring numbers because the fact is, 75% of people that own these cars dont take them to any tracks, be it road or drag.
with that being said... ive been a supra guy since i was a kid and have gone through 3 mk4's in the past 9 years, these cars have always had a special place in my heart and always will, so my opinion is definitely bias :-P

just a second thought from my last post...
after comparing a shot of my car to the ft-1... i can see a couple of design queues from the mk4 in there...
the rear section of the car mostly... ive always loved the mk4's "hips" and it looks like they integrated the "hips" look nicely on the ft-1.
please excuse my garbage ms paint skills:
EDIT:
while im at it... am i the only one that sees cat fish? lol.

its more the facial features than the entire car, grill=mouth, hood vents=antenna, eyes=head lights.

the steering wheel belongs in a prop a car from the fast and furious, if it was all black it wouldn't be that bad but how it is currently ruins the entire interior for me

The design of mirrors, I can only imagine other manufactures copying it.
Toyota is really good at design innovations.
Altezza taillights, ISF exhaust(bumper integrated exhaust), etc. |

that mirror design has been done on a few concept cars, nothing new.
the altezza taillights were not exactly a hit, that trend didn't last long. the ISF exhaust are stupid, and the "fake" exhaust tip integrated into the bumper was also done on many cars e.g MC12, 430 Scuderia. Don't know what you find cool about it...
