So the engine is BMW, the interior is BMW, what part of it is Toyota?

thumper 01-14-2019 09:24 AM

bomberR17 01-14-2019 10:05 AM

Rather get a Z4 tbh. At least BMW up the horsepower to 382hp for the same engine.

twitchyzero 01-14-2019 10:48 AM

we've been seeing renders and photochops for like 20 years, it's finally here

50k USD...better than expected

adjusted for inflation, this is actually quite a bit cheaper than a MKIV

320icar 01-14-2019 10:57 AM

That front end is just so hideous though, my god

The rear looks really good indeed.
It even has that little lights patch like F1 race cars does lol

Front-end of the car looks like muscular blobs.

I wondered why they didn't put an updated 2JZ engine into it?
But the new Supra looks to have a slightly beefier engine than the BMW Z4.

This really got be thinking about how BMW and Toyota salesmans are going to market the cars to clients (Z4 vs the new Supra)

I couldn't help but to think about the above situation with this article in mind, a pretty good read:

i kinda like it... kinda. it reminded me when i first saw the FRS. i wasnt super thrilled, but i didnt dislike it either.

Supra was never a beautiful car though..to me it looks like it ate way too many doughnuts...chunky not muscular

looks way more faithful to the 1994 model than a new NSX is to the legendary NSX or the lateset GT-R is to the godzilla GT-R

Mazda just needs to bring back the RX rotary and the whole gang is back BibleThump

Prostrho 01-14-2019 01:56 PM

Honest question.

Why are people complaining about BMW switchgears in the Supra when that's also in a 80k M4.

Would you rather have Camry switchgears in the Supra? Like how FRS got Yaris switchgears.

bcrdukes 01-14-2019 04:58 PM

Will it come with cooling and electrical system issues and failures?

Or just have a stick shift option and be done with it. :troll:

Seriously, it may be just me, but I absolutely hate using the BMW switchgear. I rented a BMW X3 a while back and I practically have to fight the damn thing to move it into different positions. It was just so unintuitive to me, so if I ever touch a newer BMW again, it better be a stick shift.

As for the Yaris one, I love those. Super easy and intuitive to use and I never have to get in and figure out things, which is the whole point of an automatic transmission. Just make it luxury/sporty and we are good to go.

That's a long shot. A very long one.

Mazda is a relatively small company compared to Toyota, Honda, etc., so money is even more of a concern for them. That, and the rotary's terrible emission doesn't help.

Not really gonna be holding my breath for this one.

Sincerely, an RX-8 owner.

asian_XL 01-14-2019 06:14 PM

the front does't look that bad with a license plate mounted, I see it somewhere on google last night, it's not bad.

Very disappointed it doesn't look like this, now the front looks like cleft lip

the asymmetric 2-tone upholestry from the z4 looks great though

Those row of buttons are programmable for anything really (radio presets, phone number shortcuts, navigation destinations, sport displays etc..)

I would've thought Toyota does their part for the interior at least if BMW is doing the driveline. This honestly reminds me of those group projects that you do where you have 3 people that did everything then the last guy comes in changes the font maybe and writes their name on the paper :lawl:

There are group projects where 75% contribute significantly to the project? :suspicious:

twitchyzero 01-14-2019 08:07 PM

i'm sure Toyota funded most of the project though

the 4-banger base model in Japan will be slower than a miata and 86 :fulloffuck:

why do companies do this? F-Type too

https://jalopnik.com/the-lowest-four...-hp-1831734785

but yeah this is a seriously good looking BMW...wayy better than the Z4

So where is the stick shift version. BibleThump

I'm sure Toyota did their homework and it probably didn't make sense for them to sell a stock shift version.

Look at the m2 worldwide numbers.

asian_XL 01-14-2019 08:46 PM

Mercedes did something similar to its SLK, wasn't good looking at all

teggy604 01-14-2019 11:49 PM

I think it looks pretty nice. The old supra was not really known for their handling more so for the crazy dyno numbers from the bulletproof engine. This one seems to be more track oriented and fine tune for the corners.

#holyfuk, Shmee drives me nuts.
He looks like a shaved testicle with eyes.

Incredible car though.

twitchyzero 01-16-2019 08:17 AM

i like his presentation of cars but the way he talks/overly forced smiles drives me up the wall...esp because i typically play back at 1.75x...so i usually watch his vids muted
