Now I wonder how the nose will change for production.. doesn't look very pedestrian friendly enough for that.
Toyota FT-1 Concept in Detroit could be the Supra we've been dreaming of

Toyota FT-1 Concept
Toyota has brought its A game to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, showing off the striking FT-1 Concept. Short for "Future Toyota," the FT-1 is, we're imagining, the supposed Supra Concept we reported on early in December.
Penned by the Calty Design Research team, the FT-1 draws inspirations from the FT-HS and the Lexus LF-LC concepts from 2007 and 2012, respectively. We certainly see a bit of Lexus LF-A in the design, while there's more than a hint of Formula One in the FT-1's pointed nose.
"Our team was heavily influenced by Toyota's sports car past, especially Celica and Supra, and we sought to capture some of that history. It is an aggressive, track-focused sports car concept with a presence that has been amplified for shock and awe," said Alex Shen, Calty's Studio Chief Designer.
The FT-1's interior is what Toyota calls a "place of business," which would be a funny description of a Toyota, if the FT-1 didn't look the way it did. The cabin is snug, while a colored heads-up display adds to the sense that this is more cockpit than cabin.
While it may be a concept, it will be available to drive soon, as Toyota worked with Polyphony Digital to add the FT-1 to Gran Turismo 6. According to the press release, which you can view below, the low-slung concept will be available for download tomorrow. Until then, be sure to peruse our full gallery of live images from the floor of Cobo Hall and the press release below.
are those cooling fans in the nose, or some kind of roadkill cuisinart option?

Thanks Toyota! Now the MKIV will only increase in value and desirability!
Ever angle but the front looks great...but given the history of Toyota producing killer concepts and production models being so far from the concept I expect disappointment.

Can't wait to drive this car on gt6. The front end looks a lot like an f1 car thanks to the triangle nose.. The rear looks a little viper esque as well..I do hope the production version looks a little more mundane like how the Ft-86 concept turned out Posted via RS Mobile
In before fanbois start complaining how it doesn't have a 2jz.
Only thing I'm worried about is the talk of a hybrid system being implemented. Kinda defeats the purpose of bringing the car back unless the car was gas-only because Toyota's hybrid setups are heavy as shit and would earhole the car into some really bad automanual transmission. I'm all game for a high output V8 for something like this, or a scaled back version of the LFA's V10.
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

doubt this wil be priced like the supra
i'm guessing 90-120K territory to compete with the R8/GT-R

As much as it irritates me, I seriously doubt this car is ever going to come out with a manual regardless of what engine/drivetrain system it uses.

i agree, if you look at pictures of the interior it doesn't look like it was designed with a stick even slightly in mind. surely they would be hyping the stick shift as well if it was going to be an option
also i cant be the only one who hates the steering wheel in this car, everything else looks great, but the wheel screams rice
