Cheap places for car storage?

I don't know anything about car storage and was wondering where the cheap places are located. The place closest to me charges $250 / month

Surely, there's some cheaper options out there?

Thanks

Do you have a grandparent or relative that lives in community housing?
Often they have parking garages sized to comply with local bylaws but a whole bunch of senior citizens who no longer drive.

Can you just rent a little garage from one of those self storage places? They definitely have them big enough to store a car, and i'm fairly sure a lot cheaper than $250/month.

You'll be surprised to see how much those things costs, I had a storage locker before it was 6x6 and it was about 100 bucks a month. Granted it was Downtown Vancouver.

if you have a friend in a building/complex extra parking spaces in the undergrounds are usually about 20$ a month, have him/her grab another key fob also "forget the cost" i did this for a friend when i lived in an apartment

I looked into one of these at one point - they are extremely expensive.

You have to sign a committed rental contract with them and when you start asking for space enough to accommodate a vehicle, the costs add up exponentially.

Some have strict policies like the gas tank must be less than 1/4 full when on premises for example. Be careful of the fine print if and when you sign the agreement.

Cheapest places are usually private agriculture land in Surrey / Langley or even further. However with those places, check with the insurance policy (both the place and your own ICBC policy).

$250 / month isn't so bad depending on what you get. There is an ad on BCBimmer a place in Duncan is $300/month, but that's for a shared space in a full workshop.

Not to mention you would have to lease or rent the land to put it on (I'm assuming the OP requires this). Definitely does not meet the requirements of "cheap" which the title of the thread states.

I was thinking about picking up a project car and keeping it off site and taking it to and from the garage it would be getting restored at.

If you dont need too much access and are just storing it.. why don't you try renting condo parking spots? In Richmond they're like $50/mo

i live in dt, near Stanley park and store my second car for free, in the same building I live in (only paying for the one car's spot of 40-45 per month).
there isnt' a huge demand for parking, as so many just take transit or walk everywhere.

buy one, get one free....works for me!
