Bcbimmers is worthless anyway. There is little to no information on it, and maybe one worthwhile for sale thread per month. If you need to get onto it to check out some classifieds just message me and I can keep an eye out for what you are looking for. Also, I know this isn't the classifieds but a friend of mine who is a dealer has a U.S. import 99 M3 coming in. 103k miles, 1 claim for vandalism to the tune of 2500(?) fern green with sand beige interior. I don't have a ton of details but he thinks price wise he's looking at listing it around 7k. It could end up being a MASSIVE bargain. He actually was looking for me back when and came across this 8 months too late for me haha. If anyone is interested get in contact with me and I'll get you in touch.

I hope OP has changed his mind.
if I have to choose a 318, I would go for E30 or E36 with LS1 swap
similar choice would be A4 1.8T, at least it has a turbo.

The LS motor thing is just a dick-measuring contest. You can use a Ford 5.0 and have practically unlimited room to grow and the parts will be cheap as fuck.

It can be easily over 20k for an LS1 swap.

7k for shipping and duty for the LS1 with the T56. The basic kit is $3,500. You're already at 10,500 USD and then you have to add the exchange rate. Then you have to get the car, pull the motor and tranny(sell them to cover the labour so far)then either wire and do the swap yourself or pay a shop to do it. You're looking at least 15k right there.

All in I think my 5.0 swap E36 cost 10k.

^ You can pull a 5.3l GM LM7/L33/L59 for $200-$500 from a junkyard, have it re-built with heads and cams and have a 400hp SBC that will be very reliable, all for well under $1500-2000 depending on parts. It may not be an LS but still... Who cares.

vitaminG 03-05-2014 08:59 PM

if all you cared about is low miles than you can get a mint low mile JDM 318i for a whole lot less than $8900

westopher 03-05-2014 09:26 PM

Yeah but we are talking about a sight unseen car compared to a car sitting in a BMW dealership. I've seen "mint" jdm imports. They range from a 4/10 to a 10/10. Its a gamble.

dared3vil0 03-05-2014 09:30 PM

^ Obviously the one at the BMW dealer is a safer bet, but buying ANY used car is a gamble...

well for 8900 he can buy 2 jdm ones and double his odds

bcrdukes 03-05-2014 09:45 PM

Yeah, double his odds of buying a lemon.

If OP wanted a lemon, he could just pick up a 2002 Audi A4.
