It is the "norm" because the majority of people work the typical 9-5 job (give or take a few hours, but the point still stands). The others are outliers and, yes, I consider myself to be one of them. But as I said in my last post, I don't expect businesses to cater to my decision to work the shift I do. Very few people are actually awake at 4 am that having a grocery store open then makes zero financial sense. Anyone remember the 24 hour grocery store that used to be in Middlegate Mall? Yeah... they stopped the 24 hour bit for a reason (this is long before Highgate was ever even being considered, so it may be before most of your time :p )

Oh great, another minority that wants shit catered to them. I'm all for equality and such, but I'm sick of people thinking exceptions need to be made for them because they're a special fucking snowflake. There's a careful balance that needs to be made between supporting minorities, and the majority ruling. I'm sorry but all this catering to night owls shit is way out of wack, we can't go making exceptions for every stupid idea people have.

The reason hardly anywhere is open 24 hours is because it isn't profitable. Have you even been to a Walmart that's open 24/7 at 3am? I have, and there was nobody there. Why the hell would any place waste money staying open at night in case a small minority of people want something? Try managing and apartment building catering to night owls only and see how well it goes, otherwise don't bitch if your neighbours tell you to shut the fuck up at 11PM.

It dates back to the times we used to actually grow our own food and work the land with our hands. Same reason for daylight savings time.

Good point, I'd take going to bed at 12 and sleeping in til 7 to work a 9-5 over going to bed at dark and waking up with the sunrise.

I'm also a night owl, I work a 2-10pm mon-fri so I'm always up till about 3-4am. See there's this great invention that was made some time ago called the headphones. Speakers that sit on your head and are as loud and as quiet as YOU need. I sit up gaming all night with my headphones cranked up and its like I have this fucking sick ass sound system going...

As for the businesses operating at their set times? I fucking love my shift for this reason. I choose a couple of days in the week to get my errands out of the way. On those days I go to bed at about 130am and get up at 8am. I go to malls, with out any line ups. I go grocery shopping, with minimal line ups. I go to the bank and guess what? No line ups. As far as I'm concerned ulics post is no different from multicartuals.. Babies just crying and wanting their way.
