really depends what you want to do with it.
do you want to make it look cool and park it at meets? there's nothing wrong with that, hardparking is half the fun and honestly revscenes Motorsport section of the forum is pretty dead... it's no fun being the only guy in there going "yeah! racing!"
do you want to track the car in open lapping days at mission and possibly Seattle tracks? loads of fun and money involved
do you want to autocross it? get some driving technique and experience without needing the fastest car in the world or deepest pockets
do you want so just simply modify it because it's something to do? having never modified a car before, it seems like meaningless fun but so is playing GTA or FORZA.

Honda engineers designed the car to be optimal daily driven on the streets, it's pretty much good the way it is, anything you do to modify the car will change that balance in comfort, performance or reliability and in some cases ruins all 3 at the same time. you might get more specific replies if we know what your plan for it is.

Step 1 - go to a forum with other accord members, someone a couple posts back posted a couple.

As you can tell half the responses here are trolls.

I really like the design of the accord coupes, and I have now for the past 3 generations (starting with the one you have).

I would take westophers advice, replace and upgrade the car as necessary maintenance comes up, and again as he said, DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. God damn the money I have wasted doing stuff twice even after I told myself I wouldnt...

Car modifying is expensive. Nickle-and-dime and it will show. Whichever area you choose to begin with, do your research first and be ready to pony up the cash.

Do it properly or do it twice.

Honestly just drive the car for a while, see what you like about it and what you don't before you go changing anything. Since I assume you're young keep some cash set aside for any surprise repairs, being a newer car it should be in pretty good shape but the repairs you will need are going to be more expensive.

What kind of budget are you working with? Mindbomber, meme405 and westopher are the best responses so far in here.

First time owning a car? Modding aint cheap, friend. You should really save your money for some good brakes, tires & maintenance. However... If you do got money to spend, you can mod it like that grey one w/te37s posted on this thread. (that actually looks niiiice)

edit: please don't be complaining when buying low-pro tires

i will go with the vote to just keep it stock, save your money, and then when the time is right, sell it and get something better that has a stronger aftermarket presence.

... or trade it in for a newer gen:

If you're modding it yourself, start with doing basic maintenance items first like brakes and oil changes. Get used to the tools, safety precautions and the general mechanical operations around it. Don't tackle a lowering spring install as the first thing you do, and preferably have someone who knows his way around a car to help you out.

A stationary car can easily kill you as a moving one if you don't know what you're doing.

the 7thgen has better power to weight ratio and it's able to receive power mods easier then 8th because of engine block. The 8thgen + just has bigger wheel wells to fit 20" vossen

Wow they didn't even bother claybar-ing the car before wrapping... I see bulges from debris/dirt.

Sell it and get something else. Use the money to grab a 240 or a coupe. If its your moms car I'd use it as just a daily and like others have said, only replace what breaks with better parts over time.
