TG is basically dead without Clarkson but thank god the other two had expiring contracts as well because now all 3 can create a new show on another platform.

Raid3n 03-24-2015 06:06 PM

i believe the other 2 said they would not continue on the show if he's sacked.

StylinRed 03-24-2015 06:21 PM

who knows if they'll go through with that though, after all they May and Hammond do have a whole slew of shows that they film for the BBC (aka $$$)

Don't think so. Jeremy and another producer sold the rights to the show to the BBC in 2012and I bet he has a do not compete clause in his contract.

donjalapeno 03-24-2015 06:58 PM

^ wouldn't the contract be terminated if he (clarkson) was terminated? Im sure he can work ways around the clause.

Jeremy Clarkson’s future remains unclear after one newspaper reported that the BBC is on the verge of sacking him.

The Top Gear presenter has been left in limbo for two weeks since the corporation announced his suspension following what it described as “a fracas” with producer Oisin Tymon.

A BBC spokesman said: “No decision has been made. When we have an outcome, we will announce it.”

BBC can't win here
they sack him, they'll lose the show and a substantial revenue for years to come
they don't sack him, it'll demonstrates Clarkson can carry on his childish behaviour as they already gave him a final warning prior to being suspended. If they do keep him, I think the animosity between the presenters and the higher ups will just get worse and they'll bound to have another fall out soon after.
Clarkson isn't too far off from Kanye; apologizes for his actions only to talk smack about it on some talk show/charity event a week later.

whatever the outcome is, i think it's safe to say TG will never be the same after this incident.

It doesn't work like that. If someone high up at Intel gets fired the person can't just get a job at AMD.

The DJ suggested as a replacement says no thanks

Quote:

Meanwhile Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, who has been touted as a potential replacement for Clarkson, has ruled himself out of the running.

"Not only is it not true, it's absolute nonsense," he told listeners on Wednesday morning.

"From what I've seen on Twitter and various social media, there's a 50/50 split approximately as to whether me being involved in the show is a good idea.

"In TV or radio, if you get a 50/50 love/hate reaction that usually equals massive hit. I used to work for [ratings body] Barb and knock on people's doors and this was the rule of thumb.

"However, I'm in the no camp. So regardless of whether it would be a hit, I'm voting a no for myself on that show, so that's never going happen.

"And that's the end of that."

Speaking later to reporters outside Radio 2, Evans refused to speculate on who else might replace Clarkson, saying he "doesn't know if the post is available yet".

thumper 03-25-2015 06:59 AM

so what's left worth watching? top gear korea? but they will have to find their own material since they just use the same format as the uk show.

dark0821 03-25-2015 07:23 AM

if hamster and slow stays I will probably still watch it. BBC should ask rowan atkinson to join the them.

320icar 03-25-2015 08:49 AM

They could rotate a guest host each week. Instead of doing the celebrity interview, have them the host. Hamster and the captain could have guest hosts like jay Leno, Chris Evans, Rowen atkinson, Chris Harris, etc etc etc

I'd watch that

I heard that was a rumor that Chris himself denied.

That's the greatest explanation to anybody being fired. "They shot him"

The end of that video is such a "dawwwwwww" moment... Real shame

BBC's even stupider than I imagined.

This Oisin Tymon guy will forever be remembered as the clown who ruined Top Gear, regardless of whether it was his fault or not. He could go on to solve world hunger or become more famous than kim kardashians ass, but forever more, the first line in his wikipedia profile will read:

Quote:

Best known for ruining the worlds most popular motoring show, Top Gear.

ytchen 03-25-2015 09:36 AM

I kinda want to organize a cruise in honoring clarkson, and our move beloved motoring show... anyone down?

yray 03-25-2015 09:41 AM

inb4 british tabloid headline: Oisin killed by top gear fan

RE-Jo 03-25-2015 09:51 AM

Please just do the P1, 918 & LaFerrari match up :P

GFunk 03-25-2015 09:53 AM

As much of a Top Gear fan we all are, don't blame BBC, blame Clarkson. It was his stupidity that ultimately led to this situation. He was well aware he was on a final warning so you'd think he'd be conscious to be on his best behaviour but no. Reading the report, he behaved barbarically and we'd be blinded by our bias for the show to be supporting such actions.
