they cancelled airing Top Gear in the summer of 2012 because of the Olympics. I wouldn't be surprised they cancelled this summer because of FIFA. Football is huge in Europe.

Probably a combination of the two, I know they've been out filming but they haven't announced anything date-wise so a winter season makes sense.

Not going to lie, it was pretty awesome to be there. Not sure I would have paid to go see Top Gear Live, but I can understand the draw of being there. VIP seats definitely weren't close to the action (though there was free meals, and cash-bar). The better watching was in the bleachers or cheap seats on the grass. Soccer using Reliant Robins, complete with Lewis Hamilton playing like it was the World cup, was definitely fun to see. Some of the scripting was a bit clunky, but when things are left to just "run" on their own, it rivals some of the best episode segments.

Highlight of the weekend was on Sunday. Ken Block and Lewis Hamilton went out on track for their planned demonstration between the two cars. Ken basically gets a half track lead, and Lewis then races to catch up and pass him, before the end of the first lap. On Sunday's demo, following the 'win', they started doing more laps together. Pretty much the most impressive move was watching Lewis Hamilton toss his F1 car into a drift behind Ken Blocks, synchronized like it was formula drift. I happened to be standing at the beginning of the corner with a perfect view.

I'll try and remember to download some of the photos off my phone.

The Falkland Islands are 300KM off Argentina's coast but are controlled by the British. In 1982 they fought a war over them.

The provincial city of Ushuaia, on the tip of Tierra del Fuego, is the closest spot in the Argentine territory to the South Atlantic archipelago and many military contingents were deployed from the town.

This week, a group of former Argentine war combatants held a protest in front of the hotel where Clarkson and the BBC crew were staying.

The British newspaper The Telegraph said the BBC denied the license plate was intentionally chosen. "Top Gear production purchased three cars for a forthcoming programme; to suggest that this car was either chosen for its number plate, or that an alternative number plate was substituted for the original is completely untrue," BBC executive producer Andy Wilman was quoted as saying.

In 2011, the BBC apologized to Mexico over remarks made on "Top Gear" that characterized Mexicans as lazy and oafish.
