First episode, there are probably some nerves going. I think once Evans tones it down and starts playing off Leblanc a little more the chemistry will get going. I was pretty stoked when I heard Leblanc was going to be a host, and he didn't disappoint. I think they scripted Sabine way too much. It seemed so forced. They need to let her talk about what she knows, which is basically everything about driving.

No, they're taped on like Wednesday. They do multiple takes. I heard Evans and Joey needed lots of takes since they weren't used it.

absolutely hated evans. over-exaggeration of basically everything and his stupid hand movements/touching the viper when talking about it.
hated his voice 5 seconds into the show when he was introducing the show
oh and his jokes are so awful its not even funny.\

EDIT:
as much as people shit on Top Gear USA, i actually kind of think that they are better than the UK one now

Gotta say, wasn't that thrilled about Leblanc, but the Nomad part was pretty fun. As for the show, the cars are there, the footage is there, but the chemistry and flow is pretty janky.

I thought Jesse Eisenberg was a completely lame and out of place guest. Didn't give a shit at all about cars and sucked on the track. Ramsay has a LaFerrari, and just ordered a Spyder, so props to him.

But they did try to balance the old and the new. Making jokes about JC and stuff. But they are not nearly as quick and witty as the original 3. They had such a poetic way about describing the feeling of driving whatever is was they were in. They are journalists after all. Evans and Leblanc seem like a forced friendship, and Leblanc is weighing heavily on the "all American" "U-S-A" BS. I hope that dissipates, and they just review cars.

I tried to watch the first 5 minutes of the new series. I couldn't stand Evans at all. May I'll try again later...

I might watch a "new" TG EP when they review some supercars but other than that I have zero interest in the show.

Wayy to forced, they needed to just do away with all the little quirks JC and gang came up with and let the new crew find their own.

The things like the beyond obvious intros, ridiculous stig intros, and exagerations and metaphors are all things that were developed by clarkson and hammond and may over many years. Just go back and look at the first couple years of TG when JC first brought it back.

They needed to just let this new crew find their own rhythm rather than cramming the JC way of doing things on them. With that said, it was pretty cringe worthy, and I have no interest in watching much more unless I start to hear that it gets good.

Eagerly awaiting the amazon series with the original 3.

Sorry Stiggy.

Extra Gear, I used to love watching Chris Harris on Cars. Putting him with Rory Reid on a side segment is a bit depressing.

What's this Extra Gear bit about? After watching this it's like a weird daytime talk show that has Chris Evans running around yelling all the time than a car show. Hopefully they cut back on Evans as Leblanc was pretty good to watch, but having Evans popping up and shrieking every 3 seconds drove me mad.

Meh.

Still good videography and production of the features/skits, but this Chris Evans guy sucks.

I finally sat through and watched the entire episode. It's just alright... totally not the same.
I do miss Clarkson and Hammond's humor though.

Did not enjoy Evans. However, I don't think its really his fault. He's probably been given a mandate from the BBC, with a script to follow. He's trying to be someone he's not, and hope he finds his own personality and humour because these shoes don't fit him.

sidenote: He reminds me of Richard Quest, and I don't really like his personality either so...

If you have not watched Extra gear watch it. It's a way better show and it has the news. Sorry no updates on the Dacia Sandero.

agreed. just watched it. extra gear should be top gear, and vice versa. much more promising...

I was living in the UK in the early 90's and back then Chris Evans was insufferable in exactly the same irritating way that he is on the new TG. That performance you watched IS Chris Evans' personality and humour.

I watched the show just on the off chance, hoping it wasn't going to be a train-wreck, I left disappointed.

The forced, artificial blokey, matey-ness in the challenge came across cheesy and way less entertaining than the deliberate sabotage and competition of the original 3; the challenge had no purpose and was lame, boring and contrived; the jokes weren't funny; the lame interview sucked with the 2 stars reading off a teleprompter what the other was up to; Evans trying to rev up the obviously bored audience; his pathetic commentary during the SIARPC lap; I could go on.

I won't be watching it again unless someone with a higher tolerance for crap programming toughs it out and tells us if they sort their sh*t out and actually produce a show worth watching. It'll be interesting to see the viewership numbers on episodes 2 and 3. I think that there were a lot of fans of the old Top Gear that tuned in out of curiosity and won't be tuning in for another episode. My money is on their viewership falling week after week unless they make a change (getting rid of Chris Evans would be a good start). They're just lucky that The Grand Tour isn't launching this spring, at least they have a little while to sort things out before the original 3 launch their show.

I actually thought it was pretty good. The beginning seemed a little too scripted, but after the celebrities I thought it was very well done.

I'm surprised Matt Leblanc is getting such good feedback here. His delivery in narration and the live segments are SO bad. Like he couldn't be bothered to do anything other than read a paper or Teleprompter.

The other guy is actually better overall, he just needs to tone it down a bit

His narration isn't the best, but Chris Evans is so bad it make Matt look good by comparison.

Joey's film was way better. Much more in line with the tone of Top Gear. His in studio stuff was weird though. Probably because he's not used to hosting things?

watch the audience when Matt tells a joke, no laughter in the audience but canned laughter dubbed in.

First episode of panned Top Gear reboot was given canned laughter boost to cover up ?awkward silences? from bored audience members
